Unexpected Development.

Four nights after WWE Elimination Chamber, the 824th edition of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown came to you from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. After securing one of the most unexpected victories in recent memory when he defeated John Cena at WWE Elimination Chamber, NXT Champion Kevin Owens would come to SmackDown as the brash and unapologetic champion would take a page out of his Money-in-the-Bank opponent John Cena’s playbook as Owens would present an open challenge to any competitor in WWE or NXT to face him for the NXT Championship, marking the first time that the NXT Championship will be defended outside of NXT! Who will step up to try and unseat Kevin Owens as the NXT Champion? Could Owens’ quest to outdo John Cena backfire in the form of losing the NXT Championship?

On RAW this past Monday night, The Authority did absolutely everything in their power to keep Roman Reigns out of the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match in ten nights, forcing Reigns to put his spot on the line against King Barrett, Mark Henry, and Bray Wyatt in three, separate, grueling matches and, not only would Roman manage to thwart The Authority and keep his spot, he would lend a major assist in Dean Ambrose once again leaving with the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt. Now, on SmackDown, “The Big Dog” would go one-on-one with a fellow Money-in-the-Bank competitor as Roman Reigns goes one-on-one with the man who viciously assaulted Randy Orton on RAW, “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus!
