    WWE SummerSlam 2014 Results

    WWE PPVs

Wwe 07042014 Brock Lesnar Paul Heyman 3

    Champ Conquered.

For twenty-six years, one event has earned the right to be called “The Biggest Event of the Summer” as SummerSlam has become the second biggest and most-anticipated wrestling event of the year, second only to WrestleMania, and this year’s SummerSlam may prove to be one of the biggest in history as the 27th annual WWE SummerSlam came to you, live on the WWE Network, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. One man who would look to make an indelible mark at SummerSlam is “The Beast” Brock Lesnar who, after “conquering” the undefeated streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania, Lesnar has loaned himself out as a mercenary for The Authority as The Authority will implement their “Plan C” to take the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from John Cena when John Cena defends the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against a monster he barely survived during their first encounter in 2012, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar!

Through insults, assaults, arrests, and humiliation, the rivalry between Brie Bella and WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon has gone beyond personal as Stephanie has set out to embarrass Brie Bella, her sister, Nikki, and her husband, Daniel Bryan, but Brie has refused to back down from the power-obsessed McMahon, matching Stephanie’s sinister plans to humiliate her personal rival and, at SummerSlam, these two powerful women will collide as, for the first time in over a decade, Stephanie McMahon will compete in a WWE ring and, with Triple H in her corner, Stephanie will go one-on-one with Brie Bella, with Nikki Bella in her corner.

Ever since the night after Payback in June when Seth Rollins betrayed his “brothers” Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns to destroy The Shield from within and side with The Authority, Seth Rollins has been the unrelenting target of Dean Ambrose and, after Rollins won the Money-in-the-Bank contract, things have gotten worse for Seth Rollins as Dean Ambrose has taken every opportunity to ruin the career of “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank”, twice ruining a cash-in attempt by Rollins, not to mention countless ambushes. However, throughout this bitter rivalry, Seth Rollins has repeatedly managed to escape the wrath of “The Lunatic Fringe”, but at SummerSlam, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins will finally go one-on-one and, in a stipulation selected by Dean Ambrose, there will be twenty WWE Superstars surrounding the ring to make sure that there is no escape for either competitor as “The Lunatic Fringe” will face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” in a Lumberjack Match!

After an assault by Randy Orton a few weeks ago on RAW due to “The Viper” claiming that Roman Reigns took a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship away from Orton, Roman Reigns has proven that it will take more than two RKO’s on the announce table to stop “The Juggernaut” and, at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns will get his shot at revenge when he goes one-on-one with Randy Orton.

In a rematch from their initial collision at Battleground, “Y2J” Chris Jericho would be looking to silence the puzzling prophet Bray Wyatt for good when the first Undisputed WWE Champion in history goes one-on-one with the leader of The Wyatt Family at SummerSlam and, this time, Bray Wyatt’s followers, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, will be banned from ringside, ensuring that the best man will win at “The Biggest Event of the Summer”.

In a war born from extreme pride in their home nations, the rarely seen Flag Match will take place between two proud patriots as “The Real American” Jack Swagger, with Zeb Colter in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Hero of the Russian Federation” Rusev, with Lana in his corner, with the winner of the match having their nation’s flag risen high above the ring.

The Intercontinental Title would also be up for grabs at SummerSlam as The Miz would make his first defense since winning the title at Battleground against the man who has had his number in recent weeks, “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler. Also, in a rematch from Battleground, AJ Lee would defend the Divas Championship against the unbalanced former champion, Paige.

    Match Results

    • Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler def. The Miz (c) by pin following the Zig Zag to win the Intercontinental Title.
    • Divas Championship: Paige def. AJ Lee (c) by pin following the Ram Paige to win the Divas Title.
    • Flag Match: Rusev (with Lana) def. Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) by submission to the Accolade after Jack Swagger passes out.
    • Lumberjack Match: Seth Rollins (with Kane) def. Dean Ambrose by pin following a shot with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase.
    • Luke Harper & Erick Rowan Banned from Ringside: Bray Wyatt def. Chris Jericho by pin following the Sister Abigail.
    • Stephanie McMahon (with Triple H & Nikki Bella) def. Brie Bella by pin following the Pedigree.
    • Roman Reigns def. Randy Orton by pin following the Spear.
    • WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) def. John Cena (c) by pin following the F-5 to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

    Detailed Results

After a special appearance by WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan kicked off the show, the opening match of the 27th annual SummerSlam would be for a championship that has had a rich history at “The Biggest Event of the Summer” as The Miz would defend the Intercontinental Championship against “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler. In the end, The Miz would hit the Skull Crushing Finale on Dolph Ziggler, but Dolph would kick out and The Miz would then go for a boot to the face and Ziggler would dodge the move, hitting The Miz with the Zig Zag and pinning The Miz to become the new Intercontinental Champion!

With one new champion already being crowned at SummerSlam, the Divas Championship was up for grabs at SummerSlam as AJ Lee would defend the title against the unstable and unpredictable Paige. At the end of an intense match, it was Paige countering AJ Lee’s Black Widow into the Ram Paige, pinning AJ Lee to become a two-time Divas Champion on her 22nd birthday! After winning the title, Paige would hug her so-called “friend”, even kissing AJ Lee before skipping off with the Divas Title, leaving a stunned AJ Lee in the ring.

Then it was time for a battle of proud patriots as “The Real American” Jack Swagger, with Zeb Colter in his corner, would face “The Hero of the Russian Federation” Rusev, with Lana in his corner, in the reimagining of the Flag Match. Before the match could begin, Rusev would attack Jack Swagger from behind, but Swagger would get the better of the situation, locking in the Patriot Lock on Rusev. The referee would break it up, but Rusev would protest that he can’t compete because of his ankle. However, the bell is rung and the match gets underway. Both men would punish each other throughout the match with Rusev targeting the ribs of Jack Swagger and Swagger targeting the ankle of Rusev, but it was Rusev fighting through the pain and locking in the Accolade on Jack Swagger. However, Swagger would refuse to tap out, but unfortunately for Swagger, his body would give out as Swagger would pass out in the submission move, forcing the referee to call for the bell, awarding the match to Rusev. After the match, Lana would taunt a concerned Zeb Colter before Rusev kicks the war veteran and grandfather in the face! With both Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter down in the ring, Rusev & Lana would stand proudly as a giant Russian flag is raised behind them with the Russian National Anthem playing in the arena.

After two months of trying to exact his revenge on Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose would finally get his chance as “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would go one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins in a Lumberjack Match, where twenty WWE Superstars will surround the ring with the task of keeping both Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins in the ring for the duration of the match. With the ring surrounded by the likes of Big E, Cesaro, Rob Van Dam, The Usos, Goldust, Stardust, RybAxel, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Fandango, Damien Sandow, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan, all of which have been victims of Ambrose & Rollins during their time in The Shield, the match gets underway. During the match, Dean Ambrose would suplex Seth Rollins over the top rope to the outside, taking out a number of lumberjacks in the process! A brawl then ensues between Ambrose and Rollins with the lumberjacks struggling to do their job as Ambrose and Rollins refuse to go back into the ring. After the lumberjacks toss Ambrose back into the ring, Ambrose would slip away, running across the announce tables and diving out over the barricade onto Rollins! After tossing a few lumberjacks around, Ambrose would continue to pummel Rollins and Director of Operations Kane would march out, ordering the lumberjacks to do their jobs and retrieve the competitors. While a few lumberjacks would manage to capture Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins would slip past Sin Cara, trying to escape the match, but a group of about a dozen lumberjacks literally carry Seth Rollins back towards the ring with Dean Ambrose diving off of the top rope, taking out Seth Rollins and the sea of lumberjacks! Ambrose would then bring Rollins back into the ring and the lumberjacks would get back to their spots at ringside. During the match, Dean Ambrose would use Seth Rollins’ own Curb Stomp against him, but Kane would enter the ring, attacking Dean Ambrose. However, Kane’s interference would spark a massive brawl amongst the lumberjacks and, with Dean Ambrose pre-occupied by taking Luke Harper & Erick Rowan out of the ring, Seth Rollins would take advantage, blasting Dean Ambrose with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase and pinning Ambrose for the win.

With his followers, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, banned from ringside, the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt, would face the man who defeated him at Battleground, the six-time former World Champion, “Y2J” Chris Jericho. During the match, Chris Jericho would manage to hit the Codebreaker on Bray Wyatt, but Bray would barely kick out. Shortly after this, Bray Wyatt would hit the Sister Abigail on the outside of the ring, followed by a second Sister Abigail in the ring, pinning Jericho to pick up the win.

Then it was time for an intensely personal battle between two individuals who hate each other with a passion as, for the first time in over a decade, WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon would step into a WWE ring as a competitor to face a Diva who has refused to become the victim of the power-hungry McMahon as Stephanie McMahon would go one-on-one with Brie Bella. During the match, Stephanie’s husband, WWE COO Triple H would make his way to the ring, followed shortly by Brie’s sister, Nikki Bella. Triple H would get on the ring apron, distracting Brie long enough for Stephanie to attempt the Pedigree, but Brie Bella would counter, locking the Yes Lock in on Stephanie. However, before Stephanie could tap out, Triple H pulls the referee out of the ring and that is when Brie Bella would take it upon herself to take out the COO, taking Triple H down with a baseball slide! Back in the ring, Stephanie tries to escape, but she is met by Nikki Bella, who stands in Stephanie’s way. Stephanie then turns around to find Brie Bella standing behind her as the Principal Owner finds herself at the mercy of The Bella Twins! However, in a stunning turn of events, Nikki would shove Stephanie out of the way before decking her own sister with a right hand! Nikki Bella then leaves the ring and watches as Stephanie hits the Pedigree on Brie, pinning Brie to win the match. After the match, a beaming Triple H would congratulate his wife on her win as husband and wife celebrate in the ring.

In a grudge match born out of championship frustration, Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with the man who viciously assaulted him a few weeks ago on RAW, “The Viper” Randy Orton. During an incredible match, Roman Reigns would fly through the air looking for the Superman Punch, but Randy Orton would catch Reigns in mid-air with the RKO, but Roman would kick out! Randy Orton would then take ample time plotting out his next move and, when Orton goes for the punt to Roman Reigns, Roman would dodge the kick before Roman blasts “The Viper” with the Spear, pinning Orton to pick up the hard-fought win.

Then it was time for the main event as “The Biggest Fight of the Summer” would rock SummerSlam as the man who ended the undefeated streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in his corner, would set his sights on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as Brock looks to conquer “The Champ” John Cena with the WWE World Heavyweight Title on the line. Throughout the match, Brock Lesnar would absolutely dominate John Cena and, even with Cena hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Lesnar and locking in the STF, “The Beast” would remain undaunted, systematically destroying John Cena, planting Cena with the F-5, pinning John Cena to pick up the one-sided victory and become the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
