    WWE Main Event

    Wwe Alberto Del Rio Ew3

    Against All Odds.

The 20th edition of WWE Main Event came to you from the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, AR. In his debut on WWE Main Event, six-time World Champion and one of the six participants in this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber Match for a World Heavyweight Title Match at WrestleMania, “Y2J” Chris Jericho will present the return of The Highlight Reel as Jericho welcomes his special guest, The Miz!

    Match Results

    • Non-Title: Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) def. Dolph Ziggler (with AJ Lee & Big E. Langston) by submission to the cross armbreaker.

    Detailed Results

Before he joins Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Kane, & Daniel Bryan in his eighth Elimination Chamber Match on Sunday, Main Event kicks off with the Main Event debut of “Y2J” Chris Jericho as Jericho brings The Highlight Reel to Wednesday night. Jericho first reveals that his guest was originally scheduled to be The Miz, but Miz is still suffering from the effects of the attack by Antonio Cesaro on RAW. Y2J shows the footage from RAW that depicts Cesaro repeatedly swinging The Miz’s head and shoulders into the ringside barricade. Jericho then states that, due to the attack, The Miz is unable to be his guest, but the guest he will have is none other than the World Heavyweight Champion himself, Alberto Del Rio!

After Jericho allows Ricardo Rodriguez to do the honors of introducing the champion, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio joins Chris Jericho on The Highlight Reel. Del Rio tells Y2J that he does not really want to talk about his Elimination Chamber opponent, Big Show, because the time for talk is over and he will beat Big Show to retain the title at Elimination Chamber. Jericho then says that he has nothing but “respect” for Del Rio and his famous family, but he will win the Elimination Chamber Match and go on to WrestleMania, where he will defeat Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title! Del Rio argues that he does not think that will happen. This sparks a Spanish argument between Jericho and Del Rio, which is broken up by Ricardo Rodriguez, who goes on a Spanish spiel in record time. “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” then crashes The Highlight Reel as Dolph Ziggler, AJ Lee, & Big E. Langston interrupt as Ziggler says that their discussion about the World Heavyweight Title does not matter because he will be the next champion. Dolph then says that Del Rio will not make it past Big Show, but one thing is certain, he will be the World Heavyweight Champion come WrestleMania. Del Rio responds, saying that it is about time that someone teaches Dolph Ziggler a “lesson” and he will do so right now. Jericho then polls the crowd, asking who wants to see Del Rio face Ziggler tonight!

Following their confrontation during The Highlight Reel, the featured match on WWE Main Event would see World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, going one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with AJ Lee & Big E. Langston in his corner, in a non-title match. During the hotly-contested match, Alberto Del Rio had Dolph Ziggler defeated, but when Del Rio pinned Ziggler, AJ Lee would put Dolph’s foot on the bottom rope, saving Ziggler from defeat. Shortly after this, AJ Lee would again get involved, distracting the referee, allowing Big E. Langston to deliver a shot to Del Rio behind the referee’s back. Ricardo Rodriguez would see this and would smash his bucket into the back of Langston, but Langston was not affected and would chase Rodriguez all the way to the backstage area! Meanwhile, in the ring, Del Rio would finally lock in the cross armbreaker on Ziggler, forcing “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to tap out to pick up the win in an intense and incredible match.

After laying The Rock out with the GTS and walking off with Rock’s WWE Title on RAW, former champion CM Punk makes an appearance on Main Event, alongside Paul Heyman. However, Matt Striker only finds Paul Heyman, who is holding The Rock’s WWE Title belt and Heyman explains that he is “The Voice of the Voice of the Voiceless” and, whatever he says might as well be coming from CM Punk himself. Heyman then says that Punk is training for his rematch with The Rock at Elimination Chamber, a rematch that Heyman claims that Punk “granted” The Rock. Heyman continues, reminding everyone that, at Elimination Chamber, if The Rock gets disqualified or counted out, then Punk “retains” the WWE Championship, vowing that Punk will walk into WrestleMania as the WWE Champion and as “The Best in the World”.
