    WWE Capitol Punishment 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | June 20, 2011
    WWE PPVs

The inaugural edition of WWE Capitol Punishment came to you, live on pay-per-view, from the Verizon Center in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. After weeks of making claims to a company-wide “conspiracy” against him, as well as insulting and embarrassing WWE fans, R-Truth has targeted who he considers the “poster boy” of the WWE in John Cena and, at Capitol Punishment, the unbalanced R-Truth gets what he wants, a WWE Title match against WWE Champion John Cena.

Since losing the World Heavyweight Title just five nights after winning, Christian has undergone a change of attitude as the former “Captain Charisma” abandoned his fan base and attacked the World Heavyweight Champion on two different occasions with the World Heavyweight Title, but at Capitol Punishment, Christian will get the title shot he has done anything and everything to get as Christian faces Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title.

After losing the WWE Title to John Cena at Extreme Rules, The Miz has laid the entire blame on Alex Riley, insulting Riley for weeks until Riley could not take the abuse any longer, leading to “A-Ry” pummeling his former mentor two weeks in a row and costing The Miz a match on RAW against Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and, at Capitol Punishment, Washington, D.C.’s own Alex Riley goes one-on-one with The Miz.

After being cost the Intercontinental Title twice thanks to The Corre, “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson would get his first fair shot at the gold as, with The Corre ceasing to exist, Ezekiel Jackson would go one-on-one with Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Title.

Last month, in what Alberto Del Rio describes as an “accident”, Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, ran over the leg of Big Show, but “The Mexican Aristocrat” may have made the biggest mistake of his career as Big Show made his return, destroying Ricardo Rodriguez and “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry, as well as the ringside area, all with the intent of revenge on Alberto Del Rio, and at Capitol Punishment, Del Rio may get what he’s got coming when he faces Big Show, one-on-one.

In a rivalry recently renewed following Rey Mysterio getting drafted to RAW, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio have each scored one win over the other and, at Capitol Punishment, “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio and the leader of The New Nexus, CM Punk, would have their rubber match.

With a recent victory over Kofi Kingston to his name, “The Platinum Superstar” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, would challenge Kofi Kingston for the United States Title.

    Match Results

    • United States Championship: Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero) def. Kofi Kingston (c) by submission to the sleeper hold to win the United States Title.
    • Alex Riley def. The Miz (with Michael Cole) by pin following the A-Driver.
    • Alberto Del Rio (with Mark Henry) def. Big Show after the referee stops the match due to Big Show being unable to defend himself.
    • Intercontinental Championship: Ezekiel Jackson def. Wade Barrett (c) by submission to the Torture Rack to win the Intercontinental Title.
    • The New Nexus Banned: CM Punk def. Rey Mysterio by pin following the GTS.
    • World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton (c) def. Christian by pin following the RKO to retain.
    • Evan Bourne def. Jack Swagger by roll-up.
    • WWE Championship: John Cena (c) (with a young Cena fan) def. R-Truth by pin following the Attitude Adjustment to retain.

    Detailed Results

Capitol Punishment kicks off with gold on the line as Kofi Kingston defends the United States Title against “The Platinum Superstar” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner. In the end, it was a controversial ending to a hard-fought match as, after Vickie Guerrero got physically involved in the match, Dolph Ziggler locked in the sleeper hold on Kofi Kingston. Then, after using the bottom rope to bring Kofi back into the center of the ring, Dolph would manage to put Kofi to sleep to be crowned the new United States Champion!

After becoming fed up with his former mentor, The Miz, and attacking the former WWE Champion on two separate occasions, Washington D.C.’s own Alex Riley would go one-on-one with The Miz. During the match, the action would spill to the outside where Alex Riley would confront Michael Cole, who had been shouting the entire match in support of The Miz as Riley pulls Cole over the announce table, throwing him to the floor. This brief distraction allowed The Miz to take advantage, but back in the ring, Miz would try and bring Riley’s briefcase into the match to use on Riley. However, the referee would take the weapon away from The Miz, allowing Alex Riley to hit the A-Driver on Miz to pick up a huge win! How will The Miz respond to losing to his former protégé, Alex Riley?

After returning to the WWE a month after being run over by Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, and destroying both Rodriguez and Mark Henry, as well as the ringside area, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show would go one-on-one with “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio. Before the match can even begin, Big Show would ambush Alberto Del Rio from behind in the entrance way as “The World’s Largest Athlete” would hurl Del Rio into the ringside barricade before throwing Del Rio into the ring. However, Big Show did not get a chance to even enter the ring as a revenge-driven Mark Henry attacks Big Show at ringside, tossing Big Show over the announce table before Henry pulls off the unimaginable by hoisting “The World’s Largest Athlete” up and sending Big Show crashing through the Spanish announce table with the World’s Strongest Slam! Mark Henry then starts to leave ringside before coming back and smashing the injured knee of Big Show into the rubble that was the Spanish announce table.

Despite this shocking attack by Mark Henry, Big Show would somehow manage to make his way back into the ring to compete against Alberto Del Rio. During the match, Alberto Del Rio modified his cross armbreaker to use it on the injured leg of Big Show and, despite getting to the ropes, Show was unable to defend himself, leaving the referee no choice but to stop the match and give Del Rio the victory! After enduring the attack by Mark Henry and an immense amount of punishment to his leg by Alberto Del Rio, what is the status of Big Show?

Before defending the Intercontinental Title against Ezekiel Jackson, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett speaks on the state of America, saying that the USA needs “a king and a queen”. Barrett continues that, in twenty years, the “national debt” will lead to Americans all “speaking Chinese” before saying that, from the outside, America looks “nice and shiny and colorful”, but the country is really a “hollow shell” just like Ezekiel Jackson. Barrett then states that he is “very well read” and he knows “all about” Ezekiel Jackson and “every patriot” is going to witness him “destroy” Ezekiel Jackson.

After his bold words about the United States of America, Wade Barrett would defend the Intercontinental Title against “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson. After kicking out of Wasteland by Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson dominated Barrett with a series of slams before hoisting Barrett up putting the torture rack in, forcing Barrett to submit to become the new Intercontinental Champion!

After the match, Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler interviews the new Intercontinental Champion, Ezekiel Jackson, as Ezekiel states that it’s the “greatest day” of his life. The amped up champion then proclaims that he “stamped” his “independence” on Wade Barrett and the remnants of The Corre before proclaiming that, in his life, the “most important things are liberty and the personification of domination”.

After renewing their rivalry after Rey Mysterio was drafted to RAW, both Mysterio and CM Punk have one victory over the other and the rubber match would take place at Capitol Punishment with Rey Mysterio going one-on-one with the leader of The New Nexus, CM Punk, with The New Nexus banned from ringside. At the end of an incredible back-and-forth match, it was CM Punk countering the 619 of Rey Mysterio into the GTS by Punk en route to picking up a big win!

Then it was time for the World Heavyweight Title to be on the line as Randy Orton returns to in-ring action after a recent concussion as Orton would defend the World Heavyweight Title against the man responsible for the injury, Christian. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Randy Orton hitting the RKO on Christian en route to picking up the win to retain the World Heavyweight Title. After the match, Christian would complain to the referee about his foot being under the bottom rope, but Randy Orton would give Christian something to complain about as Orton blasts Christian in the skull with the World Heavyweight Title belt, getting his payback for Christian’s recent attacks! How will Christian respond to failing to win the World Heavyweight Title yet again?

A special bonus match would then take place at Capitol Punishment as “The All-American American” Jack Swagger faces the man that has embarrassed him in recent weeks in the high-flying Evan Bourne. In the end, it was Evan Bourne fighting out of the ankle lock to roll Jack Swagger up en route to picking up the win.

Then it was time for the main event as, after weeks of claiming a company-wide “conspiracy” against him and insulting and embarrassing fans, R-Truth finally gets what he wants as Truth would challenge John Cena for the WWE Title. During the match, R-Truth would have control of the match as Truth decides to head to the outside of the ring to confront a young John Cena fan in the front row. R-Truth then proceeds to take the John Cena hat of the kid and drink some of the young fan’s water, but when Truth gives the glass back to the kid, the proud Cena fan would throw the water into the face of R-Truth! John Cena would then take advantage by rolling R-Truth back into the ring and delivering the Attitude Adjustment en route to successfully retaining the WWE Title. How will R-Truth respond to having water thrown in his face by the young John Cena fan and costing Truth the WWE Title?
