WWE: Shocking News from Raw ** SPOILERS **

Shocking news broke mere moments ago on the live broadcast of Monday Night Raw, as World Heavyweight Champion Edge came to the ring and announced his retirement, effective immediately.

This is believed to be 100% legitimate and NOT part of an angle or storyline.

37 year old Edge, real name Adam Copeland, said in his farewell speech that he’d had medical tests and been told to retire; sources inside the WWE indicate that this is totally accurate. Edge was given a microphone, and told to go and say goodbye in any way he wanted.

He thanked people from his past, including a nod to Jim Ross at ringside, and his former tag team partner Christian. Edge left the ring to a standing ovation from the fans in attendance, drawing a close to his 13 years on screen in the WWE.
