WWE Friday Night SmackDown December 17, 2010 Detailed Results

    By Cassidy
    | December 17, 2010
    WWE SmackDown

Just two nights before WWE TLC, the 591st edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. In rematch from Monday’s three-hour Slammys edition of RAW, WWE Champion The Miz would make a special appearance on SmackDown, two nights before he defends the WWE Title against Randy Orton in a Tables Match, to go one-on-one with “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio, two nights before Rey faces Alberto Del Rio in a Chairs Match!

    Match Results

    • Kofi Kingston & Kaval def. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger by Kofi Kingston pinning Dolph Ziggler following Trouble In Paradise.
    • “Dashing” Cody Rhodes def. Chris Masters by pin following Cross Rhodes.
    • Non-Title: The Miz (with Alex Riley & Alberto Del Rio) def. Rey Mysterio by pin after getting his knees up to counter a rope splash.
    • Non-Title: Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov def. Chavo Guerrero & Tyler Reks by Santino Marella rolling Chavo Guerrero up following the Cobra Strike.
    • The Miz & Alberto Del Rio (with Alex Riley) and Edge & Rey Mysterio fight to a No Contest after Kane comes out.

    Detailed Results

Two nights before he challenges Kane for the World Heavyweight Title in a TLC Match at WWE TLC, the show kicks off with “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge as Edge states that the last four weeks he have been dealing with Kane & Paul Bearer have been the “most bizarre” of his entire life! Edge then reveals why he did all the things he done to Paul Bearer and that is because of Kane! Edge continues that Kane has been “evil” for his entire life as Kane has “ruined” people’s lives for his own “amusement” before saying that Kane used his father, Paul Bearer, as a “pawn” to assist in burying The Undertaker alive and he decided to fight “fire with fire” with Kane before stating that “the ends justified the means” because Kane has been “one-upped”! Edge then proclaims that it will “all be worthwhile” this Sunday at WWE TLC when he challenges Kane in his specialty, a TLC Match, for the World Heavyweight Title and, at the end of the match this Sunday, he will ascend the ladder and become a ten-time World Champion! Will Edge fulfill his promise this Sunday by defeating Kane in a TLC Match to win the World Heavyweight Title?

Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long confronts Edge and tells the #1 Contender that Kane is so mentally distraught that he may not even show up this Sunday at WWE TLC for their TLC Match and this prompts Alberto Del Rio to enter and offer to take the place of Kane in the match this Sunday and Rey Mysterio then enters and states that he wants a title shot too! This prompts the SmackDown GM to make a major announcement as Theodore Long declares that, regardless of if Kane shows up or not this Sunday night, Edge, Rey Mysterio, & Alberto Del Rio will all be a part of the TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Title! Now that Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio have been added to the TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Title, will Edge’s plan still come to fruition?

Two nights before Dolph Ziggler defends the Intercontinental Title against both Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger in a Triple Threat Ladder Match at WWE TLC, Kofi Kingston would team with “The World Warrior” Kaval to face Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler & “The All-American American” Jack Swagger! At the end of a chaotic match, it was Kofi Kingston hitting Trouble In Paradise on Dolph Ziggler en route to Kofi pinning the Intercontinental Champion! After the match, Jack Swagger helps Dolph Ziggler to Dolph’s feet only to deck the Intercontinental Champion, prompting Vickie Guerrero to shriek at Jack Swagger over Swagger’s actions! Kofi Kingston has the momentum going into this Sunday’s Triple Threat Ladder Match, but can Kofi overcome both Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler to win the Intercontinental Title?

Backstage, Drew McIntyre confronts Kelly Kelly and McIntyre states that he was “disgusted” with how Tyson Kidd talked to Kelly Kelly on RAW and, if he was there, Kidd would still be “paying” for it! Kelly Kelly responds by asking when they became “friends” before saying that she has seen what McIntyre does in the ring and McIntyre responds by saying that the person she sees in the ring is not the “real” him because outside the ring, he is a “completely different person” as he is just a “kid from a far away land” trying to get to know her before asking Kelly Kelly out on a date before Kaitlyn steps in and states that Kelly Kelly already has “plans” because it is “girls’ night”!

One week after losing to Chris Masters in the Masterlock Challenge, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes would go one-on-one with “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters! In the end, it was “Dashing” Cody Rhodes hitting the Cross Rhodes on Chris Masters en route to picking up an impressive win!

After The Miz utilized the help of both Alex Riley and Alberto Del Rio to defeat Rey Mysterio on RAW, SmackDown would house the rematch as WWE Champion The Miz, with “apprentice” Alex Riley in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio! During the match, Alex Riley would distract the referee long enough for Alberto Del Rio to trip Rey Mysterio, just like on RAW, and The Miz would roll up Rey, but Rey would kick out before taking out Del Rio on the outside! However, Rey Mysterio would go for his signature rope splash, but The Miz, being given enough time to recover, would get his knees up before pinning Rey for the win! After the match, Alberto Del Rio would rush in the ring and attack Rey Mysterio, prompting Edge to come to the aid of Rey followed by Miz attacking Edge! This would lead to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long coming out and announcing the main event for SmackDown as WWE Champion The Miz would team with Alberto Del Rio to face Edge & Rey Mysterio!

Two nights before they face Divas Champion Natalya & Beth Phoenix in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match, the Slammy Award winning Layla & Michelle McCool make an appearance on SmackDown as the 2010 Diva of the Year Michelle McCool states that they are holding an “official protest” against their Tables Match before saying that the match is “not going to happen” because it is “barbaric”! McCool then states that, just like all the women in the back and like everyone in the crowd, none of them are “Diva”, because a “Diva” is “flawless” before LayCool proclaims that the Tag Team Tables Match is “off”! This prompts Divas Champion Natalya & Beth Phoenix to come out with a “present” for LayCool in the form of a gift-wrapped table! Natalya asks LayCool when LayCool started making the “rules” and, after LayCool states that they run the show, Layla states that a Tables Match is “man’s match”! Beth Phoenix then tells LayCool that, this Sunday, they will make sure that LayCool will never “laugh” at them again! Layla responds by saying that Phoenix’s anger brings out her “masculine side” before asking how they are going to put LayCool on the table before Beth Phoenix presents a table painted with a witch likeness of Layla & Michelle McCool! This prompts LayCool to attack Natalya & Beth Phoenix, but the powerhouse Divas would get the better of LayCool as they would send Michelle McCool to the outside of the ring before setting Layla up for a double suplex through the table, but McCool would attack the duo to quickly save Layla and exit the ring! What will happen this Sunday night when Divas Champion Natalya and Beth Phoenix face Layla & Michelle McCool in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match?

The WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov were in action on SmackDown as the tag champions would face the team of Chavo Guerrero and “The Wild Man” Tyler Reks! In the end, it was Santino Marella hitting the Cobra Strike on Chavo Guerrero before rolling Chavo up en route to picking up the win!

Then it was time for the main event of the evening as, two nights before Edge, Rey Mysterio, & Alberto Del Rio all compete in a Fatal 4-Way TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Title, with or without reigning champion Kane, “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge would team with “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio to face WWE Champion The Miz and “The Essence of Excellence” Alberto Del Rio! During the match, the cameras cut to the backstage area where a hallway strung with broken bodies while, in the ring, Edge hits the Spear on The Miz, but when Edge goes to pin The Miz, Kane comes out and attacks Edge, sparking a brawl between Edge and Kane that prompts the SmackDown locker room to come out and do their best to separate the two, but both Superstars fight through the massive amount of Superstars, even delivering the chokeslam to Trent Barreta before Edge hits the Spear on Kane, keeping the brawl going! Kane has returned to SmackDown more angry and dangerous than ever, but what will happen this Sunday at WWE TLC when Kane defends the World Heavyweight Title against Edge, Rey Mysterio, & Alberto Del Rio in a Fatal 4-Way TLC Match when two deeply personal feuds collide in one supersized match?
