3-Hour King of the Ring Edition of RAW Detailed Results

    By Cassidy
    | November 30, 2010
    WWE Raw

The 914th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW would be a special three-hour King of the Ring edition which came to you, live, from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. For the first time in two years, the legendary King of the Ring tournament would return as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus, “Big Zeke” Ezekiel Jackson, “The Guru of Greatness” John Morrison, & United States Champion Daniel Bryan from RAW and the self-proclaimed “Essence of Excellence” Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston, “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre, & “Dashing” Cody Rhodes from SmackDown would clash in the eight-man tournament with the winner joining such legendary names as Don Muraco, Harley Race, Tito Santana, Bret Hart, Triple H, and Stone Cold Steve Austin in being called the King of the Ring! On a night where royalty would be crowned, RAW would also see “Miss USA” Rima Fikah appear as the RAW Guest Star!

    Match Results

    • 2010 King of the Ring Tournament: First Round Match: John Morrison def. “Dashing” Cody Rhodes by pin following a knee to the face to advance to the Semi-Finals.
    • 2010 King of the Ring Tournament: First Round Match: Ezekiel Jackson & Drew McIntyre fight to a Double Count-Out.
    • 2010 King of the Ring Tournament: First Round Match: Sheamus def. Kofi Kingston by pin following the Brogue Kick to advance to the Finals.
    • Non-Title: Mark Henry & Yoshi Tatsu (with John Cena)  def. Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel by Mark Henry pinning Heath Slater following the World’s Strongest Slam.
    • 2010 King of the Ring Tournament: Semi-Finals: John Morrison (with Rey Mysterio) def. Alberto Del Rio by pin following the Flying Chuck to advance to the Finals.
    • 6-Diva Tag: Natalya, Melina, & Gail Kim (with Santino Marella) def. Maryse, Alicia Fox, & Tamina by Alicia Fox submitting to Natalya’s Sharpshooter.
    • 2010 King of the Ring of the Ring Tournament: Finals: Sheamus def. John Morrison by pin following the High Cross to become the 2010 King of the Ring.
    • WWE Championship: TLC Match: The Miz (c) (with Alex Riley & Michael Cole) def. Jerry “The King” Lawler to retain.

    Detailed Results

One week after The Miz shocked the world by cashing in his Money-in-the-Bank contract on an injured Randy Orton to win the WWE Title, RAW kicks off with the personally signed “apprentice” of The Miz, Alex Riley! Riley states that he is “honored” to be a part of one of the most “groundbreaking” moments in “entertainment history” and that the fans will never “forget” how they “felt” when The Miz cashed in to win the WWE Title before proclaiming that he is not “afraid of a party” and he plans to throw The Miz one of the “most exciting, over-the-top victory celebrations of all time”! Riley then proclaims that “Monday Night RAW is all going A-Ri and it’s going to be awesome”! What does Alex Riley have in store for The Miz and his “victory celebration”?

Then it was time for the First Round Match in the 2010 King of the Ring tournament as SmackDown’s self-proclaimed “Essence of Excellence” Alberto Del Rio would go one-on-one with RAW’s United States Champion Daniel Bryan! After a plancha dive to the outside on Alberto Del Rio that inadvertently injured his shoulder, Daniel Bryan would find himself locked in the cross armbreaker of Alberto Del Rio and, with an already injured shoulder, Bryan had no choice but to tap out as Alberto Del Rio advanced to the Semi-Finals of the King of the Ring tournament!

R-Truth made an appearance on RAW as the good friend of John Cena proclaimed that, last week, Cena went out “like a champ” in his final night in the WWE after being fired before stating that The Nexus may have won the “battle” , but the “war hasn’t even started yet”! R-Truth then lays out a challenge for any Nexus member to go one-on-one with him! The backstage area is then shown where Nexus leader Wade Barrett sends out Nexus member Michael McGillicutty as McGillicutty states that he is going to show R-Truth what happens when you challenge someone from The Nexus! McGillicutty then marches towards the ring, but is cut off by an unknown assailant as McGillicutty is shown being assaulted and thrown up against a wall before a hand reaches down and gives the “You Can’t See Me” taunt! Despite being fired from the WWE last week, it is apparent that John Cena has targeted The Nexus, but how will The Nexus respond to the attack?

Then it was time to determine who will face Alberto Del Rio in the Semi-Finals of the King of the Ring tournament as RAW’s “Guru of Greatness” John Morrison would go one-on-one with SmackDown’s “Dashing” Cody Rhodes in the second First Round Match! In the end, it was John Morrison delivering a vicious knee to the face of “Dashing” Cody Rhodes en route to picking up the win and advancing to the Semi-Finals of the King of the Ring tournament! The first Semi-Final match has been set as Alberto Del Rio will face John Morrison, but who will advance in the tournament?

Then it was time for the third First Round Match of the King of the Ring tournament as “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre would have the unenviable task of going one-on-one with the seemingly unstoppable Ezekiel Jackson! In the end, it was both competitors finding themselves on the outside of the ring as the referee reaches his ten count, meaning that both Ezekiel Jackson and Drew McIntyre are counted out and the winner of the match between Sheamus and Kofi Kingston will get an automatic bye into the Finals to face either John Morrison or Alberto Del Rio! After the match, Ezekiel Jackson would throw Drew McIntyre back into the ring where McIntyre would try to take advantage by hooking up the Future Shock DDT, but “Big Zeke” would overpower McIntyre and would ultimately send McIntyre packing out of the ring!

One week after cashing in the Money-in-the-Bank contract on a vulnerable Randy Orton, the new WWE Champion The Miz, along with his “apprentice”, Alex Riley, makes an appearance on RAW! Miz states that he has had a “struggle” to get to the WWE and he has proven himself against all naysayers before telling everyone who has doubted him that he is the WWE Champion! Miz then reveals that the former WWE Champion Randy Orton is not on RAW because of an injury to his knee suffered at the hands of The Nexus before saying that Orton’s “pride” is the only thing that is injured and that Orton is “afraid to show his face”! Miz then proclaims that when he says he is going to do something, he will “accomplish” it before proclaiming that he is going to be the “longest reigning WWE Champion in history”! Miz then tells the fans that it takes an “exceptional person” to “prove everyone wrong” and that he is nothing like the fans because he is “one in a billion” because he has “achieved” his “dream”! Miz then lists off several WWE legends and WWE Hall of Famers who have never won the WWE Title before Miz is interrupted by one of those Hall of Famers who have not won the WWE Title as RAW Color Commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler interrupts The Miz and tells the new WWE Champion that Miz beat a guy who was attacked by seven other people and that may make Miz “clever” and an “opportunist”, but it does not make him “awesome”! Miz responds by saying that it sounds like the “ramblings of a bitter, old man” who fought for “four decades” to do what he did in “one night”! The Miz’s biggest fan, RAW Play-by-Play Commentator Michael Cole then tells Jerry Lawler to “stop” before telling Lawler that it is Miz’s “night” and Lawler should “sit down”! Jerry Lawler then tells The Miz that he should call a Superstar out to give that individual a WWE Title shot to prove himself and Michael Cole tells Jerry Lawler that Miz may make an “example” out of Jerry Lawler! Lawler then states that he has been in the WWE since 1993 and he has never had a shot at the WWE Title before challenging The Miz to give him a title shot and Miz responds by saying that he is “not interested” in defending his WWE Title on that night! Jerry Lawler then responds by saying that Miz is not “awesome”, he is a “coward” and The Miz tells Lawler that he is a “shell of a Hall of Famer”! This prompts the anonymous General Manager of RAW to chime in with an email that announces that he is “interested” in seeing The Miz defend the WWE Title before making the match official as The Miz will defend the WWE Title against Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and, in the spirit of the WWE TLC pay-per-view coming up in a few weeks, the WWE Title match will be a Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match! Will the new WWE Champion The Miz defeat Jerry “The King” Lawler or will the Hall of Famer upset the new champion to win his first WWE Title?

Then it was time for the final First Round Match in the King of the Ring tournament as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus would go one-on-one with Kofi Kingston with the winner getting a bye into the Finals of the King of the Ring tournament! In the end, it was Sheamus catching Kofi Kingston in mid-air with the Brogue Kick en route to advancing to the Finals of the King of the Ring tournament to face either Alberto Del Rio or John Morrison with the winner being named the 2010 King of the Ring!

The WWE Tag Team Champions were in action on RAW as Nexus members Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel would face the team of Yoshi Tatsu & Mark Henry, but early on in the match, John Cena would come down to ringside to sit in the front row of fans! After being distracted by John Cena’s presence at ringside, Heath Slater would find himself caught in mid-air by Mark Henry as Henry would plant Slater with the World’s Strongest Slam en route to picking up the win! Immediately after the match, John Cena would quickly strip the announce table before pulling Heath Slater out of the ring and delivering the Attitude Adjustment to the WWE Tag Team Champion through the announce table before quickly exiting through the crowd! After attacking Nexus members on two separate occasions, how will The Nexus respond to John Cena’s attacks?

Then it was time for the Semi-Final match in the King of the Ring tournament as John Morrison would go one-on-one with Alberto Del Rio with the winner facing Sheamus in the Finals! In the end, it looked like Alberto Del Rio was set to pick up the win when the horn of one of his classic cars being honked distracts Del Rio as Rey Mysterio is shown in one of Del Rio’s cars! This would distract Del Rio long enough for John Morrison to take advantage by hitting the Flying Chuck kick en route to picking up the win and advancing to the Finals to face Sheamus with the winner being named the 2010 King of the Ring!

After John Cena attacked Nexus members Michael McGillicutty and Heath Slater, Nexus leader Wade Barrett makes an appearance on RAW and reveals that the anonymous General Manager of RAW has informed him that he is the “only person” that can get John Cena his job back before saying that Cena’s attack on The Nexus is an attempt to frustrate him to the point of getting reinstated to extract his “revenge”, but Barrett promises that Cena will “never, ever work in the WWE ever again” and that the “element of surprise has now left” and that The Nexus will get their hands on John Cena! Cena then interrupts and appears on the Tron as Cena states that he is not there to get his job back, he is there to keep his “word” and take out The Nexus before revealing that the WWE security is in “no rush” to apprehend him after The Nexus attacked the security on their first night on RAW! The three able-bodied Nexus members would then surround John Cena, but Cena would remind Wade Barrett and The Nexus that he is not the only enemy of The Nexus as a slew of RAW Superstars rush in and attack The Nexus as John Cena gets a hold of Nexus member Justin Gabriel and hurls the WWE Tag Team Champion into the side of a car before throwing Gabriel into a stack of steel chairs and, finally, delivering the Attitude Adjustment to Gabriel on the hood of a car! Cena would then tells Barrett that his attacks will not stop until The Nexus is taken out before telling Barrett that he will be back next week! What kind of chaos will take place next week when John Cena returns to RAW to finish what he started by taking out The Nexus?

The Divas were in action on RAW as Divas Champion Natalya would team with Melina & Gail Kim to face the team of Maryse, Alicia Fox, & Tamina in a 6-Diva Tag Match! During the match, Santino Marella would come out and would serenade his love interest, Tamina, leading to Tamina leaving with Santino! This would leave Maryse & Alicia Fox high and dry as Alicia Fox would find herself locked in the Sharpshooter by Natalya and ultimately tapping out to the maneuver!

Then it was time to determine the 2010 King of the Ring as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus would go one-on-one with “The Guru of Greatness” John Morrison with the winner being named the 2010 King of the Ring! In the end, it was Sheamus taking advantage of the injured shoulder of John Morrison to hit the Brogue Kick and follow it up with the High Cross en route to pinning John Morrison to become the 2010 King of the Ring! After the match, the RAW Guest Star “Miss USA” Rima Fakih would do the honors of handing King Sheamus his scepter as Sheamus would take his seat in his throne as “Miss USA” would place the crown atop the head of the 19th King of the Ring as the new King would then shout “long live the King”!

Then it was time for the historic main event as the new WWE Champion The Miz would defend his WWE Title against a legendary competitor who has never received a WWE Title shot in WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler in a Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match! During the match, The Miz’s “apprentice”, Alex Riley, would deliver a clothesline to Jerry Lawler, but Lawler would fight back, ultimately knocking Riley off of the apron and through a table at ringside! Later on in the match, The Miz would go for a superplex on Jerry Lawler, but Lawler would ultimately knock The Miz off of the top rope and through a table! This would prompt RAW Play-by-Play Commentator Michael Cole to get out of his seat and try to help The Miz before entering the ring and pulling his broadcast partner off of the ladder, leading to Jerry Lawler delivering a right hand to Cole and pummeling Cole! This would ultimately lead to The Miz being given time to recover as the WWE Champion would re-enter the ring and both champion and Hall of Famer would find themselves battling at the top of the ladder with The Miz ultimately retrieving the WWE Title to successfully retain the gold! How will Jerry Lawler respond to his broadcast partner, Michael Cole, getting physically involved in the match and costing him his one shot at being the WWE Champion?
