WWE Super SmackDown LIVE Results: November 6, 2012

    By Cassidy
    | November 6, 2012
    WWE SmackDown

    Wwe Randy Orton

    Brutal British Brawl.

SmackDown would make history as, for the first time ever, Super SmackDown LIVE would emanate from ‘across the pond’ at the LG Arena at the NEC Birmingham in Birmingham, England. After weeks of costing each other matches, not to mention their own intense pay-per-view matches, the rivalry between “The Viper” Randy Orton and “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio would reach a new level as the two former WWE Champions would wage war all throughout the LG Arena as Orton and Del Rio would go one-on-one in a Falls Count Anywhere Match!

    Match Results

    • Intercontinental Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) def. The Miz by pin with a high cross body to retain.
    • The Prime Time Players def. Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara by Titus O’Neil pinning Rey Mysterio following the sit-out powerbomb.
    • Big Show & Wade Barrett def. Sheamus & William Regal by Big Show pinning William Regal following the K.O. Punch.
    • Falls Count Anywhere: Randy Orton def. Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) by pin following the RKO on the steel steps.

    Detailed Results

After WWE.com broke the news story earlier today that Sheamus and World Heavyweight Champion Big Show were involved in a pub fight that also involved Sheamus’ friend, William Regal after last night’s RAW, Super SmackDown LIVE kicks off with the former champion, Sheamus, as “The Celtic Warrior” would be interviewed by Michael Cole. Cole then shows cell phone footage of the incident as Sheamus is shown meeting up with William Regal in a local pub moments before Big Show blind-sides Sheamus, knocking Regal out before pummeling Sheamus and breaking furniture on “The Celtic Warrior” and intimidating the other bar patrons! A riled-up Sheamus says that he does not think that it is a good idea for Cole to be in the ring right now. Sheamus then says that there is a part of him that “respects” Big Show to come onto his turf and start a fight, but he cannot respect Big Show for attacking William Regal, a man who has helped Sheamus’ career immensely, as well as the careers of several other Superstars, including the likes of Daniel Bryan and Wade Barrett. Sheamus continues that he is still standing, saying that, at Survivor Series, it will be all about the World Heavyweight Championship, but tonight it is about him kicking Big Show “giant arse”. The World Heavyweight Champion opts to appear on the Titan Tron as Big Show says that he went easy on Sheamus in that pub fight, saying that he could have destroyed Sheamus and made sure that “The Celtic Warrior” didn’t even make it to Survivor Series, but he decided not to. Big Show then vows to take Sheamus out “permanently” at Survivor Series and, if Sheamus thinks that it is a good idea to fight him, then Sheamus should talk to William Regal and see if it is still a good idea. Sheamus then tries to goad Big Show down to the ring, but Sheamus does not get the World Heavyweight Champion, he gets England’s native son, Wade Barrett. Barrett says that, with Sheamus trying to pick a fight with Big Show just one night before they face off at Main Event makes him seriously question Sheamus’ “sanity”. Barrett continues that, when he is done with Sheamus, Sheamus will not make it to Survivor Series, but Sheamus interrupts “The Bareknuckle Brawler” and dares Barrett to come to the ring and fight him! Barrett then starts towards the ring, but Barrett thinks twice about it, opting to wait until WWE Main Event to face “The Celtic Warrior”.

Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Booker T confronts Wade Barrett with the news that Wade Barrett will be teaming with the World Heavyweight Champion, Big Show, to face “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus and the legendary William Regal.

After failing to regain the Intercontinental Title from Kofi Kingston at Hell in a Cell, The Miz would get another opportunity to regain the gold as “The Most Must-See Superstar” challenges Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship. In the end, it was Kofi Kingston catching The Miz with a high cross body, pinning Miz en route to successfully retaining the Intercontinental Title. After the match, The Miz would actually extend his hand to Kofi Kingston, but Kofi’s distrust of Miz results in the Intercontinental Champion delivering a dropkick to the former champion.

A tag team rivalry would continue on Super SmackDown LIVE as Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara faced The Prime Time Players, Darren Young & Titus O’Neil. In the end, it was Titus O’Neil hitting a sit-out powerbomb on Rey Mysterio en route to picking up the win for The Prime Time Players.

In a tag team match with major Survivor Series implications, World Heavyweight Champion Big Show teams with England’s own “Bareknuckle Brawler” Wade Barrett to face “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus and another native Englishman in William Regal. In the end, it was Big Show leveling William Regal with the K.O. Punch en route to the World Heavyweight Champion picking up the win for himself and Wade Barrett.

Then it was time for the unique and punishing main event as an intense rivalry would reach a new level as “The Viper” Randy Orton went one-on-one with “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, where pinfalls count anywhere in the arena! Early on in the match, Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, hands Del Rio a steel chair with Del Rio propping the steel chair up in the corner of the ring. The match then spills to the outside of the ring where Orton gains control, but Del Rio manages to escape the grip of “The Viper”, leading Orton to the backstage area where Del Rio regains control, stomping away at Orton on the concrete floor. Del Rio then drags an anvil case out in the open, but Orton is able to fight back, smacking Del Rio’s head off of the case, failing to successfully pin Del Rio before the fight resumes in the crowd. Ricardo Rodriguez then hands Del Rio another steel chair as Del Rio drives it into Orton’s mid-section, followed by another shot to Orton’s back. The battle then makes its way to the staging area where Orton drops Del Rio on the steel ramp with a backdrop. Rodriguez then tries to attack Orton, but “The Viper” slings Rodriguez off of his back onto the steel stage. Fed up with Rodriguez’s interference, Orton pummels the personal ring announcer inside an old-fashioned phone booth, leaving Del Rio as Orton’s sole focus. Orton then pursues Del Rio, who had made his way back to ringside, as Orton rolls Del Rio into the ring before sending “The Mexican Aristocrat” skull-first into the steel chair set up the corner. Shortly after this, Del Rio manages to fight back and, with Orton positioned on the ring apron with a table set up below, Del Rio hits an enziguiri on Orton, which knocks “The Viper” out on his feet as Orton tries his best to stay conscious before falling through the table! However, Orton is still able to kick out, so a frustrated Del Rio rolls Orton into the ring before grabbing a microphone and telling Orton to “give up” becoming the “apex predator”. Del Rio then locks in the cross armbreaker on Orton, but “The Viper” manages to reach the microphone that Del Rio left in the ring, clocking Del Rio in the skull with it, forcing his way out of the submission hold. Del Rio then sends Orton shoulder-first into the steel ring post before setting up the steel steps in the ring, lying Orton’s skull on the steel steps. “The Mexican Aristocrat” then grabs a steel chair with the intent of smashing the skull of “The Viper”, but Orton narrowly gets out of the way of the shot before popping up and delivering the RKO to Del Rio on the steel steps en route to finally picking up the win in a brutal and punishing war!
