WWE: Alex Riley Injured, More on Beth Phoenix’s DeparturePosted on September 23, 2012 by Cassidy Wrestling NewsShare On: Tweet The Wrestling-Online Newsletter is reporting that another RAW Superstar will be out of action for awhile as Alex Riley underwent knee and elbow surgery this week. A definite timetable for Riley’s return has not been revealed, but the former NXT Rookie is expected to be back in a few months. Riley has made very rare appearances in 2012, mostly serving as a jobber or competing on WWE Superstars after his push was cancelled due to an apparent backstage incident between Riley and John Cena. PWInsider.com has an update on the imminent departure of Beth Phoenix (Elizabeth Carolan) as the three-time Women’s Champion has given her notice to the WWE and will be finishing up the rest of her September and October dates before leaving the company after October 22. Sources within the WWE state that they are not surprised to see Phoenix leaving the company as she has been “going through the motions” for awhile now. On a side note, if she does decide to wrestle for another organization, Phoenix will be able to use the “Beth Phoenix” ring name as she used the name before she joined the WWE in 2006.
