WWE Friday Night SmackDown December 3, 2010 Detailed Results

    By Cassidy
    | December 6, 2010
    WWE SmackDown

The 589th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, VA. Last week, in an ultimately failed attempt to have Edge give him back his father, Paul Bearer, Kane granted a rematch for the World Heavyweight Title! It has been revealed that their rematch for the World Heavyweight Title match in just over two weeks at WWE TLC and, on SmackDown, World Heavyweight Champion Kane would go one-on-one with his #1 Contender, “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge in a non-title match with the winner getting to choose the stipulation for their title match at WWE TLC!

    Match Results

    • Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre (with Vickie Guerrero) def. MVP & Kaval by Dolph Ziggler pinning Kaval following the Zig Zag.
    • #1 Contender’s Match for the Intercontinental Title: Kofi Kingston def. Jack Swagger by pin following Trouble In Paradise to become the new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title.
    • “Dashing” Cody Rhodes def. Chris Masters by pin following Cross Rhodes.
    • Layla (with Michelle McCool) def. Rosa Mendes by pin following the Lay Out.
    • Winner Chooses The Stipulation for WWE TLC: Non-Title: Edge (with Paul Bearer) def. Kane by pin following the Spear to get to choose the stipulation for the World Heavyweight Title match at WWE TLC.

    Detailed Results

With several tables, ladders, and chairs surrounding the ring and one giant ladder in the ring, SmackDown kicks off with “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio as Rey states that he would have “loved” to be the 2010 King of the Ring, but he was cost that opportunity last week by Alberto Del Rio! Rey continues that he is not the type to “complain”, but he did take care of “business” on RAW when he cost Del Rio the Semi-Final match in the King of the Ring tournament! Rey then ascends the giant ladder as Rey states that being the King is about being a “leader” and being “fearless” and about “climbing so high that you ain’t afraid to fall” before saying that Alberto Del Rio may like his “fancy cars”, but he likes to “fly”! This brings out the self-proclaimed “Essence of Excellence” Alberto Del Rio as Del Rio states that the reason that other Superstars climb ladders is so they can be on his “level” before reminding Rey Mysterio what happened the last time Rey was around him and steel chairs! Rey responds by saying that he has been injured by Superstars “twice” as good as Alberto Del Rio and that he always returns before telling Del Rio they should take care of “business” right now! Del Rio responds by ascending the ladder and calling Rey an “ambitious chihuahua” before saying that it is not going to happen! Rey then states that he did not call Del Rio out there to “ask” Del Rio about a match, he is there to “tell” Del Rio about a match before revealing that he talked to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long and they will go one-on-one at WWE TLC! Del Rio respond to this news by saying that he has no reason to face Rey again because he has already beaten Rey! Rey then responds by popping Del Rio with the microphone to knock him off of the ladder and Del Rio responds by knocking Rey off of the ladder before Rey ultimately takes Del Rio to the outside of the ring and, with Del Rio laid out on a table, Rey would dive off of the ring apron with a legdrop through Del Rio and through the table! What will happen when these two Superstars square off at WWE TLC?

Backstage, in a moment captured earlier on in the day, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and Dolph’s girlfriend, SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero run into the winner of NXT Season Three, Kaitlyn, who informs the couple that she is SmackDown’s newest Diva! What kind of impact will Kaitlyn have on SmackDown?

The Intercontinental Champion was in action on SmackDown as Dolph Ziggler would team with “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre to face the team of “The Ballin’ Superstar” MVP and “The World Warrior” Kaval in tag team action! In the end, it was Vickie Guerrero distracting the referee long enough for Drew McIntyre to land a shot on Kaval, allowing Dolph Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag en route to picking up the win for himself and McIntyre! After the match, an angry World Heavyweight Champion Kane would march out to the ring and prey on a weakened MVP and Kaval by delivering a thunderous chokeslam to MVP and following that up by spiking Kaval with the Tombstone Piledriver! Kane would then, once again, demand to know the whereabouts of his father, Paul Bearer, and Edge would appear on the Tron and tell Kane to come get Paul Bearer in the loading dock area! Kane would rush to the backstage area and would pursue Edge to the back of a semi truck where some heavy equipment crushes a dummy Paul Bearer! Kane would then spot Edge making his getaway and would then pursue Edge! What else will happen between Edge and Kane before the two face off in the main event?

Then it was time to determine the new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title as Kofi Kingston would go one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger with the winner earning that opportunity! In the end, it was Kofi Kingston hitting Trouble In Paradise on Jack Swagger from the outside of the ring en route to picking up the win and becoming the new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title!

Backstage, Kane is in close pursuit of Edge, but Edge would shove the wheelchair containing Paul Bearer down a flight of stars as Kane would head down the stairs only to find another dismantled dummy of his father! What will happen when Kane gets his hands on Edge in the main event?

One week after picking up a big win over Rey Mysterio, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes would go one-on-one with “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters! In the end, it was “Dashing” Cody Rhodes hitting the Cross Rhodes on Chris Masters en route to picking up the win!

The Divas were also in action as former “co-Divas Champion” Layla, with Michelle McCool in her corner, would go one-on-one with Rosa Mendes! In the end, with some help from Michelle McCool, Layla would hit the Lay Out on Rosa Mendes en route to picking up the win! After the match, LayCool was set to beat down Rosa Mendes, but Hornswoggle would emerge from underneath the ring and, as LayCool mocked the miniature Superstar, Beth Phoenix would come out and attack both members of LayCool before the Swagger Soaring Eagle would come out and pick a fight with Hornswoggle as the Eagle would lay Hornswoggle out with a big “talon” before Beth Phoenix would get the mascot by the “wings” to deliver the Glam Slam en route to Hornswoggle hitting the Tadpole Splash on the Eagle!

Then it was time for the main event as, after two weeks of being made a fool of and having his father, Paul Bearer, narrowly escape from being freed, the World Heavyweight Champion, Kane, would finally get his hands on “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge as the two would go one-on-one in a non-title match with the winner getting to choose the stipulation for their bout for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE TLC! During the match, Kane looked to have things well in hand as the World Heavyweight Champion was set to deliver the chokeslam to Edge, but Kane’s father, Paul Bearer, would appear on the Tron and would plead with Kane to “come find” him! This would prompt Kane to exit the ring, but would have second thoughts before re-entering the ring to deal with Edge, but Edge was given valuable time to recover and would deliver the Spear to Kane en route to pinning the World Heavyweight Champion to choose the stipulation for their title match at WWE TLC! After the match, Edge tells Kane the stipulation that he chooses for WWE TLC as Kane will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Edge in Edge’s “specialty”, the TLC Match! Edge would then state that, since he got what he wanted, then Kane can have Paul Bearer back! Edge would then bring out a wheelchair containing a living person before making his exit, but Kane would excitedly approach the individual only to find out that it was an imposter of his father, Paul Bearer! Kane would react by delivering a big boot to the imposter before pummeling the faux Paul Bearer before the real Bearer appears on the Tron and is strapped to a flatbed truck, pleading for Kane’s help and Kane would rush the parking lot to find Edge quickly hopping in the truck and narrowly escaping Kane as Kane only gets his fingertips on the flatbed truck before it speeds away! What will happen when Kane meets Edge with the World Heavyweight Title on the line in a TLC Match in three weeks at WWE TLC?
