How Many Belts Are There in WWE Wrestling?

WWE, also known as World Wrestling Entertainment, is home to a wide array of championship belts that symbolize prestige and honor within the world of professional wrestling. These belts are coveted by wrestlers and serve as a testament to their success and skill in the ring.

Let’s take a closer look at the various belts that are currently active in WWE.

    WWE Championship

The WWE Championship is the most prestigious title in WWE. It dates back to 1963 and has been held by some of the biggest names in wrestling history, including Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and more.

This belt represents the pinnacle of success in WWE.

    Universal Championship

Introduced in 2016, the Universal Championship is on par with the WWE Championship in terms of prestige. It is exclusive to the Raw brand and has been held by superstars like Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, and Roman Reigns.

The Universal Championship provides an opportunity for Raw wrestlers to become the face of the brand.

    Intercontinental Championship

The Intercontinental Championship is often referred to as the “workhorse” title due to its history of showcasing exceptional wrestling matches. It has been held by legendary performers such as Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Chris Jericho.

This belt represents excellence in technical wrestling skills.

    United States Championship

The United States Championship is an important prize on WWE’s roster. It has a rich history dating back to 1975 and has been held by iconic wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Steve Austin, John Cena, and AJ Styles.

The United States Championship showcases the best of American wrestling talent.

    Raw Tag Team Championship

WWE recognizes the importance of tag team wrestling with its Raw Tag Team Championship. This belt is exclusively for teams competing on the Raw brand.

Notable teams like The Hardy Boyz, The New Day, and The Shield have held this championship. It represents the cooperation and chemistry between two wrestlers.

    SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Similar to the Raw Tag Team Championship, the SmackDown Tag Team Championship is dedicated to tag teams on the SmackDown brand. Teams such as The Usos, The New Day, and The Bar have held this prestigious title.

It showcases the tag team division’s strength on SmackDown.

    Women’s Championships: Raw & SmackDown

WWE places great emphasis on women’s wrestling with two separate championships for female wrestlers. The Raw Women’s Championship is exclusive to the Raw brand, while the SmackDown Women’s Championship is exclusive to SmackDown.

These belts have been held by trailblazers like Trish Stratus, Lita, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks.

    Cruiserweight Championship

The high-flying action of cruiserweight wrestling is celebrated through the Cruiserweight Championship. This title is contested by athletes who weigh 205 pounds or less.

Wrestlers like Rey Mysterio Jr., Eddie Guerrero, Neville (now known as Pac), and Cedric Alexander have showcased their incredible athleticism while holding this belt.

    Conclusion

In summary, WWE offers a diverse range of championship belts that cater to different wrestling styles and divisions. From the prestigious WWE Championship to the high-flying Cruiserweight Championship, each title represents a unique aspect of professional wrestling.

These belts serve as symbols of excellence and are highly sought after by WWE superstars.
