    Detailed Results

Three nights before he is one of the six participants in the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, SmackDown kicks off with Chris Jericho as the six-time former World Champion presents The Highlight Reel. After showing off the updated Highlight Reel set, Chris Jericho vows to win the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match this Sunday night. Jericho then reminds everyone that he was the one who created the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match before introducing his guest, Jericho’s longtime rival and fellow Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match participant Dean Ambrose, who makes his way to the ring with a cup of coffee in hand. When “The Lunatic Fringe” kneels down to admire the new carpet of The Highlight Reel, Chris Jericho gets nervous about Ambrose spilling coffee on the expensive carpet.

This leads to Jericho taking away Ambrose and the fans’ “JeriTron privileges”, having the expensive TV raised back up to the ceiling. Jericho says that he hasn’t forgotten what Dean Ambrose has done to him, from destroying his light-up jacket to slamming Jericho on sixty-nine thumbtacks. Jericho then says that Ambrose has never been a World Champion while he has been a World Champion six times before saying that he will win the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase and he will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

This brings out another of the six Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match participants as Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring, saying that he will the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase this Sunday and he’s not going to tell anyone when he’s going to cash it in. This brings out the fourth piece of the puzzle, Alberto Del Rio, who says that he is the only one in the match who knows what it’s like to be “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” before Cesaro comes out. However, before Cesaro can even speak, Sami Zayn interrupts, leading to an argument between Cesaro and Zayn. After Jericho calls them “stupid idiots”, Cesaro and Sami enter the ring, leading to a stand-off between the six Superstars. Jericho then starts to explain how the team of himself, Alberto Del Rio, & Kevin Owens are going to win the 6-Man Tag main event, but Jericho’s speech is halted when Ambrose pours his coffee on the expensive carpeting in the ring! This sparks a brawl between the six Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match participants that has to be broken up by several referees.

Before The New Day defends the WWE Tag Team Titles against Enzo & Cass, The Vaudevillains, and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Match this Sunday at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, a member of each team would square off on SmackDown as WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston, with Big E in his corner & Xavier Woods a guest on commentary, Big Cass, with Enzo Amore a guest on commentary, Aiden English, with Simon Gotch in his corner, and Luke Gallows, with Karl Anderson in his corner, would compete in a Fatal 4-Way Match. Throughout the match, the respective tag team partners on the outside would get involved in the match and, in the end, it was Kofi Kingston connecting with Trouble in Paradise to Aiden English, pinning English for the win, picking up some momentum for The New Day heading into WWE Money-in-the-Bank.

With a match against Baron Corbin coming up on the WWE Money-in-the-Bank Kickoff this Sunday night, Dolph Ziggler would be a guest on commentary as “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin would go one-on-one with Zack Ryder on SmackDown. In the end, it was Baron Corbin hitting the End of Days and pinning Zack Ryder for the win. After the match, Baron Corbin would confront Dolph Ziggler at ringside and, with Dolph ready for a fight, Corbin would think better of it as “The Lone Wolf” walks away, saving the fight for Sunday.

Three nights before he defends the United States Title against Titus O’Neil at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, United States Champion Rusev, with Lana in his corner, was scheduled to go one-on-one with the man he beat for the United States Title, Kalisto. However, Rusev would attack Kalisto before the match can even begin, blasting the high flyer with a kick to the back of the head before locking in the Accolade, trying to break Kalisto in half. With his partner in danger, Sin Cara would rush to the ring to try and make the save, briefly using his speed to get the better of the United States Champion, but Rusev would make the other half of The Lucha Dragons suffer as well, locking in the Accolade on Sin Cara. This brings out Rusev’s WWE Money-in-the-Bank opponent Titus O’Neil, who pummels Rusev on the outside before the United States Champion is narrowly able to escape Titus, who helps The Lucha Dragons back to their feet.

Following a backstage confrontation between The Club and The New Day where AJ Styles challenged Xavier Woods to a “tune-up match” for AJ’s match against John Cena at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, SmackDown would see “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles go one-on-one with WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods with both Superstars agreeing to leave their respective allies in the back. Despite an impressive showing by Xavier Woods, it was AJ Styles who would score with the Phenomenal Forearm, following it up with the Calf Crusher, making Xavier tap out to pick up the win. After the match, AJ Styles would have a message for John Cena, telling his WWE Money-in-the-Bank opponent that Cena’s “time is up” and his “time is now”.

Before Natalya & Becky Lynch face Charlotte & Dana Brooke at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, SmackDown would see Natalya, with Becky Lynch in her corner, go one-on-one with Women’s Champion Charlotte, with Dana Brooke in her corner, in a non-title match. During the match, an attempt at interference by Dana Brooke would spark a brawl between Becky Lynch and Dana Brooke, but Dana would leave the Women’s Title belt in the ring. Charlotte would throw the title belt at the feet of Natalya behind the back of the referee and, as the referee removes the belt from the ring, Charlotte would catch Natalya with a chop block, locking in the Figure-Eight, making Natalya tap out to pick up the win.

Then it was time for what was sure to be an explosive main event as, before the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match at WWE Money-in-the-Bank this Sunday night, “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would team with Cesaro and Sami Zayn to face six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio, & Kevin Owens in a 6-Man Tag match. The wild match would devolve into chaos and, among the confusion, Cesaro would accidentally take out Dean Ambrose with a European uppercut. Shortly after this, Alberto Del Rio would tag Kevin Owens into the match against Owens’ will and Owens would respond by leveling both of his tag partners, Del Rio and Chris Jericho, with a super kick. This would leave Kevin Owens open for Dirty Deeds as Dean Ambrose spikes Owens with Dirty Deeds and pinning Owens to pick up the win for his team. Dean Ambrose is then the one left standing tall with his gaze focused on the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase hanging above the ring.
