WWE Super SmackDown Results: December 16, 2014

    Wwe 072014 Roman Reigns 2

    Detailed Results

Fresh off an impactful return at WWE TLC where he put Big Show through a table with the Spear and again on RAW where he blasted Big Show with the Superman Punch, Super SmackDown LIVE would kick off with Roman Reigns as the powerhouse would go one-on-one with Fandango, with Rosa Mendes in his corner. While the “new and improved” Fandango would fair pretty well against Roman Reigns, the dancing Superstar was no match for the determined hard-hitter as Roman would blast Fandango with the Superman Punch, following it up with the Spear, pinning Fandango for the win.

For the first time since his brutal TLC Match against Bray Wyatt at WWE TLC, “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would appear on SmackDown. Ambrose says that he and Bray Wyatt went through “hell” at WWE TLC and he loved every minute of it, saying that he lost, but he saw that Bray Wyatt was “afraid”. Ambrose continues, saying that, for the first time in Bray’s life, he was faced with someone just as “twisted” as he is. Bray Wyatt then appears on the big screen, saying that the only reason that Dean Ambrose is still breathing right now is because he is enjoying their “little game”. Bray then says that, if anyone could see the “creature” behind his eyes, that he is a “slave” to his “calling”. Bray continues, saying that he cannot “stop” until he sees all the “heroes fall” and his “hatred” for Ambrose’s world is what fuels him, proclaiming that he is the “battlefield” and it cannot end until he watches it all “burn down”.

Super SmackDown LIVE would see a big 6-Man Tag match as “Big Red” Erick Rowan would team with the 2014 Tag Team of the Year, The Usos, to face the team of Luke Harper and the WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & Damien Mizdow. At the end of the match, The Usos would convince Erick Rowan to take flight as “Big Red” would come off of the top rope with a big splash, pinning The Miz to pick up the win for his team.

With questions abound regarding his relationship with Paul Heyman and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar after Lesnar’s interference allowed him to defeat John Cena in a Steel Cage Match on RAW, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, with J&J Security in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Big Guy” Ryback. However, before the match could even begin, Ryback was blindsided by Rusev during his entrance as the United States Champion would knock Ryback down before blasting “The Big Guy” with a big kick that knocks Ryback off of the stage to the concrete floor, followed up with a second kick to the face, sending Ryback careening over some anvil cases!

Having just witnessed Rusev assault his scheduled opponent, Ryback, Seth Rollins says that Rusev’s attack is a perfect example of how WWE has become a “madhouse” without The Authority. Rollins then says that, after he was cheated out of a victory at WWE TLC by Roman Reigns, he orchestrated the attacks on Chris Jericho and John Cena on RAW, claiming that he defeated Cena in a Steel Cage Match all by himself. Rollins continues, saying that he is out there with injured ribs, but he was still willing to compete and now his opponent cannot compete. “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” then thinks it over, saying that, after the last two nights, he thinks that he deserves the night off. Rollins and J&J Security are then ready to leave, but they are halted by Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, who comes out to the stage. Dolph reminds Seth Rollins that The Authority is out of power and he is the one who beat Rollins at Survivor Series. The Intercontinental Champion then says that Rollins is “contractually obligated” to compete tonight, saying that the fans “deserve” to see Seth Rollins compete on Super SmackDown LIVE, challenging Seth Rollins to a match! Seth Rollins responds by asking what Dolph Ziggler has done lately to deserve to step into the ring with Seth Rollins. Dolph says that, if Rollins is “afraid”, then he should just admit it, but, despite the protests of J&J Security, Rollins accepts the challenge and vows to put Dolph Ziggler down with the Curb Stomp. The Intercontinental Champion then tells Rollins that he is going to come out there later and defeat “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” because that is what is “best for business”.

Earlier in the night on WWE Main Event, The Miz was somehow able to pull some strings and get Naomi a major opportunity on Super SmackDown LIVE as Naomi would challenge Nikki Bella, with Brie Bella in her corner, for the Divas Championship. During the match, The Miz would make his way to ringside to cheer Naomi on in the title match. However, once Naomi is knocked to the outside of the ring, The Miz apparently gets too close for Jimmy Uso’s comfort as Naomi’s husband marches to ringside, attacking The Miz and forcing Miz to the back. Her husband’s actions would end up costing Naomi the match as Naomi would become pre-occupied with Jimmy’s fight with The Miz, allowing Nikki Bella to catch Naomi with a roll-up, picking up the win to successfully retain the Divas Title.

After Kane delivered the Tombstone Piledriver to The Bunny on RAW, The Bunny, wearing a neck brace, would accompany Adam Rose to the ring as the leader of The Exotic Express would face Kane in a rematch from RAW. During the match, Adam Rose would manage to take Kane off of his feet, but Rose would spend too much time celebrating his accomplishment and Kane would make him pay, planting Rose with the chokeslam and pinning Rose for the win. After the match, Kane would again prey on The Bunny, dragging the mascot into the ring and spiking The Bunny with another Tombstone Piledriver.

After revealing earlier in the night that he had, in fact, made a deal with Paul Heyman & Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins would reveal why he forged the deal in a backstage interview. Rollins explains that the decree was made at Survivor Series that John Cena is the only man who could ever bring The Authority back, saying that, until Cena decides to bring The Authority back, he is going to make sure that John Cena remains “unsuccessful”, including Cena’s WWE World Heavyweight Title match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Rollins then says that he orchestrated Brock Lesnar’s attack on Chris Jericho last night because “nobody” can replace The Authority before vowing that The Authority will come back, but until they do, he is going to make everyone’s life “miserable”.

Then it was time for the main event as, two nights after winning the Intercontinental Title in a vicious Ladder Match against Luke Harper at WWE TLC, new Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler would go one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, with J&J Security in his corner, in a non-title match. After enduring frequent interference from J&J Security throughout the match, Dolph Ziggler would take matters into his own hands during the match as Dolph tosses Seth Rollins to the outside, taking out both Jamie Noble & Joey Mercury. However, a few moments later, Joey Mercury would distract the referee long enough for Jamie Noble to deliver a right hand to Dolph Ziggler and, having seen enough of J&J Security’s interference, the referee ejects Noble & Mercury from ringside! Outraged at the referee’s decision, Seth Rollins turns his attention away from Dolph Ziggler to argue with the referee and Dolph would take advantage, hitting the Zig Zag and pinning Rollins to pick up a big victory! After the match, J&J Security would try and get their hands on the Intercontinental Champion, but Dolph Ziggler would slip away from Noble & Mercury, getting to enjoy a very hard-fought and satisfying victory.
