    Detailed Results

The opening match of WWE Hell in a Cell would be for one of WWE’s most prestigious and legendary titles as Dolph Ziggler would defend the Intercontinental Championship against “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, where the first Superstar to score two falls, either by pinfall, submission, count-out, or disqualification, will leave the event as the Intercontinental Champion! The first fall of the back-and-forth match would surprise Cesaro as Dolph Ziggler would catch “The Swiss Superman” off-guard with a roll-up, keeping Cesaro down for a three-count to score the first fall. After being on the defensive for much of the second part of the match, Dolph Ziggler would endure all that Cesaro had to offer before targeting the injured arm of Cesaro, following it up with a superkick and the Zig Zag, pinning Cesaro to score the second fall of the match, defeating Cesaro with two straight falls to successfully retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Then it was time for a personal sibling rivalry to make an interesting impasse through WWE Hell in a Cell as Brie Bella would go one-on-one with her twin sister Nikki Bella with the stipulation that, whoever loses the match must become the winner’s personal assistant for 30 days and, if the losing Bella refuses, then she must leave WWE. After Brie Bella kicked out of the Rack Attack once, Nikki Bella would survive the Yes Lock before hitting a vicious forearm on her sister, following it up with a second Rack Attack, pinning Brie to win the match. As a result, Brie Bella must serve as Nikki Bella’s personal assistant for 30 days and, if she refuses, Brie will have to voluntarily leave WWE.

The WWE Tag Team Titles would be on the line at WWE Hell in a Cell as Gold & Stardust would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Usos. In the end, it was Goldust using an assist from Stardust before hitting the Final Cut on Jimmy Uso, pinning Jimmy to pick up the win and successfully retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.

Then it was time for the first Hell in a Cell Match of the night as a rivalry that has spanned the better part of a decade would be reignited as fifteen-time former World Champion John Cena would collide with twelve-time former World Champion and Hell in a Cell veteran “The Viper” Randy Orton in a match where both men would be locked inside the demonic Hell in a Cell and absolutely anything would be legal in the match as there would be no disqualifications and no count-outs with the only way to win is by pinfall or submission in the ring with the winner, or rather survivor, earning a future shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship! Clearly the one most comfortable inside Hell in a Cell, Randy Orton would waste little time in making John Cena taste the steel walls of the Cell, repeatedly sending Cena face-first into the Cell. Orton then grabs a steel chair, twice jabbing Cena in the mid-section with the chair before putting the steel chair between the top and middle turnbuckle in the corner. After fighting out of an attempted Attitude Adjustment, Orton would regain the advantage in the match, bouncing Cena face-first off of the steel steps and grinding Cena’s face on the Cell wall.

Randy Orton would continue to dominate the match, snuffing out any attempt at sustained offense by John Cena, but when Orton goes for his signature suspended DDT, Cena sends Orton over the top rope to the outside. Cena then picks Orton up and rams him into the Cell wall, but Orton would quickly counter, sending Cena crotch-first into the steel ring post, hitting a unique backbreaker on the outside before rolling Cena back into the ring. After kicking out, Cena would climb to the ring apron and “The Viper” would act quickly, knocking Cena off of the apron and into the Cell. Orton would then look to take advantage, but the ever-resilient John Cena would battle back, twice tossing Orton into the Cell before grabbing a table and sliding it into the ring. Cena sets up the table in the ring, but when Cena goes to retrieve Orton, Orton catches Cena with a right hand and narrowly avoids getting put through the table before sending Cena shoulder-first into the steel chair propped up in the corner. As Cena struggles to recover, Orton sets the table up in the corner before turning his focus back to Cena. Orton then tries to send Cena through the table, but Cena manages to avoid the impact and, in the middle of Cena’s attempt at a comeback, Orton would catch Cena in mid-air with the RKO! However, Cena would kick out and Orton would respond by tossing Cena through the table set up in the corner!

With Cena seemingly able to kick out of anything that Orton could throw at him, “The Viper” would bring the larger bottom half of the steel steps into the ring. Orton would then look for the RKO on the steel steps, but Cena would counter, slamming Orton back-first on the steel. However, when Cena looks to finish the match with the Attitude Adjustment, a desperate Orton would fight out of the move before hitting Cena with a completely legal low blow! Having used everything in his arsenal to beat Cena to no avail, Orton would look for the career-threatening punt, but Cena would dodge the kick and catch Orton in the STF. While crawling to the ropes meant nothing in the no disqualification environment, Orton would force Cena to release the hold by crawling to the outside. Cena would then toss the steel steps at Orton, but thankfully for Orton, “The Viper” dodges the steel. Orton then briefly regains the advantage before Cena comes out of nowhere with the Attitude Adjustment, but Orton kicks out and, when Cena tries for the Attitude Adjustment a second time, Orton counters the move into the RKO! Cena would kick out yet again and would even manage to successfully hit a second Attitude Adjustment, but Orton would kick out as well! Cena then heads to the outside, bringing another table into the ring, setting the table up near the corner of the ring. Cena then places Orton on the table, but when Cena heads to the top rope, Orton fights back, attempting an RKO through the table. However, Cena would counter “The Viper” before picking Orton up and delivering the Attitude Adjustment off of the middle rope through a table, finally allowing Cena to pin Orton to survive Hell in a Cell and earn himself a future shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship!

The United States Championship was up for grabs at WWE Hell in a Cell as the self-proclaimed “A-Lister” The Miz, with his stunt double Damien Mizdow in his corner, would challenge Sheamus for the United States Title. During the match, Damien Mizdow would get on the ring apron, distracting Sheamus long enough for The Miz to take advantage as Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale, but Sheamus kicks out. The Miz would then go to the middle rope, but when Miz leaps off, he is caught with the Brogue Kick as Sheamus pins The Miz to successfully retain the United States Title. After the match, Damien Mizdow would slide into the ring, doing his stunt double duty by lying next to The Miz. Sheamus decides to have some fun with this as the United States Champion shakes The Miz and even makes The Miz do the YMCA dance with Mizdow perfectly mimicking everything that Sheamus was making Miz do, capped off by Sheamus hitting the Brogue Kick on The Miz with Mizdow mocking The Miz’s fall.

Backstage, Brie Bella is loading Nikki Bella’s bags into her car before presenting Nikki with the milkshake that she requested, but Nikki would dump the milkshake over the head of her sister before demanding that Brie make her another one just like it and bring it to her hotel room!

In an intense collision between two proud patriots, WWE Hell in a Cell would see the proud American and “World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show square off with the undefeated “Hero of the Russian Federation” Rusev, with Lana in his corner. During the match, Mark Henry would make his way to ringside as Big Show plants Rusev with a chokeslam, but Rusev would manage to kick out. After a brief pep talk by Mark Henry on the outside, Big Show would roll Rusev back into the ring, but the brief rest would allow Rusev to hit a big kick to the face of Big Show and, when Mark Henry gets on the ring apron, Rusev would blast “The World’s Strongest Man” with a kick to the face as well! With Big Show somehow back on his feet, Rusev would use two more of his signature kicks to finally floor the giant before managing to lock in the Accolade on Big Show. “The World’s Largest Athlete” would do his best to endure the Accolade, but the pain and punishment inflicted on him throughout the match would leave Big Show no choice but to tap out as Rusev wins the match and remains undefeated. After the match, Mark Henry would enter the ring to tend to his friend, helping Big Show regain the ability to stand before Mark Henry turns his gaze to Rusev, daring Rusev to get back into the ring and fight him before consoling a visibly disappointed Big Show.

The Divas Championship was then up for grabs as AJ Lee would defend the Divas Title against Paige, with her best friend Alicia Fox in her corner. During the match, AJ Lee would drop Paige head-first onto the barricade on the outside and Alicia Fox would make the questionable move of rolling Paige into the ring to keep Paige from getting counted out. However, this would lead to Paige’s downfall as AJ would immediately lock in the Black Widow on Paige, making Paige tap out to successfully retain the Divas Title. After the match, Paige would respond to Alicia Fox’s actions by slapping her supposed best friend across the face.

Then it was time for a main event five months in the making as “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would finally get his hands on the man who betrayed him back in June, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins as the two former teammates would go to war inside Hell in a Cell! Before the match even begins, Dean Ambrose would make sure to toss all the weapons he could think of into the ring, tossing several steel chairs into the ring and even bringing his own kendo stick, but in an action that would bring back memories of Mick Foley in 1998, Dean Ambrose would climb to the top of the Cell with kendo stick in hand! With his “personal security” in tow, Seth Rollins would make his way to the ring, initially demanding that Ambrose get down from the Cell and, against the wishes of his security, Rollins starts to climb to the Cell. However, Rollins thinks better of it and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” instead tells his security to climb the Cell and get Dean Ambrose down! Reluctantly, Jamie Noble & Joey Mercury would scale the structure, but Dean Ambrose would not go quietly, wearing both men out with the kendo stick! Seth Rollins would then climb to the top of the Cell and, with the match yet to officially begin, a brawl breaks out on top of the Cell! Noble & Mercury are quick to tackle Ambrose, holding “The Lunatic Fringe” down while Rollins waylays Ambrose with the kendo stick.

After dropping the stick off of the Cell, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” would instruct his security to toss Dean Ambrose off of the structure, but Ambrose would battle back, taking out Jamie Noble & Joey Mercury before both men try to climb down off of the Cell. However, both men would find themselves brawling at the uncomfortable height and would end up knocking each other off the side of the Cell as both Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins fall through the air, crashing through the two announce tables at ringside! EMT’s quickly rush to the scene, carefully putting Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose on a stretcher, but Ambrose would refuse to be stretchered out of the arena as “The Lunatic Fringe” gets off of the stretcher, catching up to Seth Rollins and taking Rollins off of the stretcher. Ambrose then tosses Rollins into the Cell wall and slamming the Cell door into the face of Seth Rollins before ordering the referee to lock the door and start the match. With the match finally underway, Dean Ambrose would finally get Seth Rollins all to himself as “The Lunatic Fringe” methodically wears Rollins out with multiple chair shots to the back. Rollins then tries to escape, but Ambrose catches Rollins on the ring apron and, after an attempt to use a screwdriver on Rollins fails, Ambrose uses a dropkick to send Rollins into the Cell wall on the outside. Ambrose then props a table up against the Cell at ringside, but Rollins again manages to create distance from Ambrose. However, Ambrose would dive out to ringside, sacrificing himself to send “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” into the Cell wall again.

Back in the ring, Dean Ambrose would attempt a suplex on Seth Rollins onto a pile of steel chairs, but Seth Rollins would counter, planting Ambrose on the steel. Rollins then grabs a table, propping up the table between the ring and the Cell wall, but Ambrose would battle back and it would be “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” who would suffer as Ambrose would drop an elbow, putting his own body on the line to put Rollins through the table! As the first man back to his feet, Ambrose would grind Seth Rollins’ face into the mesh fencing of the Cell, but that is when The Authority’s Director of Operations would get involved as, from outside the Cell, Kane would spray Ambrose in the face with a fire extinguisher! This would allow Seth Rollins to gain the advantage and Rollins would make the most of it as “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” picks Dean Ambrose up, driving him through a table with a running powerbomb! Rollins then rolls Ambrose into the ring, spiking Ambrose with the Curb Stomp, but Ambrose would manage to kick out. Rollins then grabs a steel chair, repeatedly striking Ambrose with the weapon. Ambrose then dodges a second Curb Stomp, blasting Rollins in the face with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase, but Rollins somehow manages to kick out of the pinfall attempt that followed!

Dean Ambrose then brings two cinder blocks into the ring and, with revenge on his mind, Ambrose would place the head of Seth Rollins on the concrete blocks, but just as Ambrose was about to deal the final shot to Rollins, all the lights go out in the arena. The voice of Bray Wyatt can then be heard throughout the arena as Bray speaks in a foreign language before a lantern appears in the ring. With Ambrose watching and talking to himself, smoke billows out of the lantern and an outline of Bray Wyatt can be seen among the smoke, but when Ambrose gets close to the smoke, the real Bray Wyatt charges through the smoke at Dean Ambrose, knocking Ambrose down! The lights then go out again and when the lights come back on, Bray Wyatt does his signature spider crawl before picking Dean Ambrose up and slamming Ambrose dow! As he keeps a cautious eye on Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins slowly climbs to cover Dean Ambrose, getting the three-count and winning the match all while Bray Wyatt kneels, staring at Ambrose. After Rollins exits the Cell, Bray Wyatt picks Ambrose back up and plants “The Lunatic Fringe” with the Sister Abigail, kneeling next to Dean Ambrose and leaving a lot more questions than answers after a brutal Hell in a Cell Match.
