WWE SmackDown Results: October 26, 2012

    WWE SmackDown

    Wwe Sheamus 2

    Security Clearance.

Two nights before Hell in a Cell, the 688th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, RI. Before they go one-on-one for the first time ever with the World Heavyweight Title on the line at Hell in a Cell, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and #1 Contender “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show will confront each other, face-to-face, in the center of the ring! What will happen when these two volatile Superstars are in the same ring at the same time with a World Heavyweight Title match just around the corner?

    Match Results

    • Kane def. Cody Rhodes by pin following the chokeslam.
    • The Miz def. Yoshi Tatsu by pin following the Skull Crushing Finale.
    • Wade Barrett (with Alberto Del Rio) def. Randy Orton by pin following the Souvenir.
    • Eve & Aksana def. Layla & Kaitlyn by Eve pinning Kaitlyn following the Bombshell Kick by Layla.
    • Damien Sandow (with Cody Rhodes) def. Daniel Bryan (with Kane) by pin following the straightjacket neckbreaker.

    Detailed Results

Two nights before he faces Alberto Del Rio at Hell in a Cell, SmackDown kicks off with nine-time World Champion “The Viper” Randy Orton. Orton says that many people think that he despises Alberto Del Rio because Del Rio attacked him last month, but he does not despise Del Rio for attacking him, he despises the reason for Del Rio’s attack. Orton continues that he could understand if Del Rio attacked him in an attempt to make people forget that he failed to beat Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title on numerous occasions, but Del Rio opted to act like a “tough guy”. Orton then says that Del Rio made two mistakes, he wasn’t honest and Del Rio picked the “wrong guy” to try and make an example out of. Orton then vows to give Del Rio the “single most brutal beating” of Del Rio’s life, saying that Del Rio calling himself the “new apex predator” in the WWE is the biggest lie of all! Alberto Del Rio then interrupts, saying that Orton is “not very smart”, saying that he is going to do things on his terms and, at Hell in a Cell, he is going to show the world that Orton is just a “garden snake” that he can crush at any time he wants. Orton says that Del Rio is no predator, calling Del Rio a “spineless, bottom-feeder with no cajones”! Del Rio says that he is not afraid and he will decide when Orton’s “time is up”. Ricardo Rodriguez tries to rally Del Rio to get a piece of “The Viper”, but Del Rio decides otherwise, saying that he will see Orton on Sunday. With Orton’s attention on the departing Del Rio, Wade Barrett comes out of nowhere, blasting “The Viper” from behind before leaving the ring! Why did Wade Barrett target Randy Orton and how will Orton respond?

Backstage, Senior Advisor Theodore Long accuses Alberto Del Rio of orchestrating Wade Barrett’s attack on Randy Orton before announcing that Barrett will go one-on-one with Orton on SmackDown!

With Daniel Bryan and Damien Sandow guests on commentary, their respective tag team partners were in action as WWE Tag Team Champion “The Big Red Monster” Kane went one-on-one with one-half of Team Rhodes Scholars, Cody Rhodes. In the end, it was Kane drilling Cody Rhodes with a chokeslam en route to picking up the win.

Before he challenges new champion Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Title at Hell in a Cell, The Miz went one-on-one with Yoshi Tatsu on SmackDown. In the end, a determined Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on Yoshi Tatsu en route to picking up the win.

With so much evidence surrounding the attack on Kaitlyn, Senior Advisor Theodore Long enters the office of SmackDown General Manager Booker T, who is already in conference with Aksana, Layla, Kaitlyn, and Divas Champion Eve. Long tells Eve that the jig is up and she should just come clean, but Booker T’s Assistant states that she has been “too trusting” by leaving her iPad out in the open without even protecting it with a password, allowing anyone to use it any way they want and she thinks that is exactly what has happened. Eve then swears that she had nothing to do with the attack, but she knows someone who does. This sparks an argument between the four Divas, leading Booker T to settle the issue by announcing a Triple Threat Match for the Divas Title at Hell in a Cell as Eve will defend the title against both Layla and Kaitlyn! Booker then announces that, on SmackDown, Eve will team with Aksana to face Layla & Kaitlyn in tag team action.

After being attacked by Wade Barrett earlier in the evening, “The Viper” Randy Orton went one-on-one with “The Bareknuckle Brawler” Wade Barrett on SmackDown. During the match, Randy Orton was poised to deliver the RKO, but Alberto Del Rio comes out, distracting Orton long enough for Wade Barrett to hit the Souvenir on Orton en route to picking up the win. After the match, Alberto Del Rio picks his moment to strike as Del Rio tries to hit the enziguiri on “The Viper”, but Orton battles back and nearly puts Del Rio down with the RKO, but Del Rio is able to wiggle away, making a quick retreat from the ring.

Before they are opponents in the Triple Threat Match for the Divas Title at Hell in a Cell, Layla and Kaitlyn face Divas Champion Eve and Aksana in tag team action. During the match, Layla’s Bombshell Kick would errantly strike Kaitlyn. This would lead to Eve pinning Kaitlyn to pick up the win for herself and Aksana.

In a role reversal from earlier in the night, Kane and Cody Rhodes were guests on commentary as their respective tag team partners faced off as WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan went one-on-one with one-half of Team Rhodes Scholars, Damien Sandow. During the match, Cody Rhodes would try to attack Daniel Bryan, but Bryan shoves Rhodes down. Kane then gets involved, stalking Damien Sandow around the ring, but while the referee is distracted by Kane and Sandow, Rhodes catches Bryan from behind, sending him shoulder-first into the steel ring post. This would allow Damien Sandow to take advantage, hitting the straightjacket neckbreaker en route to picking up the win.

With their first ever meeting for the World Heavyweight Title just two nights away at Hell in a Cell, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus would come face-to-face with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show for one last face-off before their championship match. With a team of security in the ring to try and prevent any physicality, commentator Josh Mathews would introduce the World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus, followed by the challenger, Big Show. As Big Show makes his entrance, the security team forms a human barrier between the two Superstars. Big Show claims that his K.O. Punch is the most powerful finisher in WWE history and is certainly more lethal than the Brogue Kick. Sheamus says that, in order for Big Show’s K.O. Punch to be lethal, it actually has to connect. Big Show then reminds Sheamus of what happened three weeks ago on RAW when Sheamus tried to go for the Brogue Kick on Big Show and the #1 Contender blocked the kick and sent Sheamus tumbling to the outside of the ring. Big Show continues that, in order for the Brogue Kick to be effective, the kick has to connect with an opponent’s head and Sheamus cannot reach Big Show’s head with the Brogue Kick. The challenger than states that Sheamus cannot beat him, but Sheamus says that he loves a “great fight” and, when Big Show became the #1 Contender, he was excited for the opportunity to face a giant and a “monster”. Sheamus continues that he strives for a challenge and there is “no bigger challenge” than Big Show, saying that Big Show is a different animal altogether, vowing to “conquer” the mountain that is Big Show. Sheamus says that he is “ready”, but Big Show argues that Sheamus is not ready, he is “afraid”. Sheamus admits that it is not going to be easy, but it will be a true challenge to defeat Big Show, saying that he has been waiting for their match for a month, proclaiming that the “time for fighting is now”! Sheamus then breaks through the chain of security and when the security team tries to separate champion and challenger, Sheamus and Big Show send every member of the security team flying with the World Heavyweight Champion delivering the Brogue Kick to a security guard. However, when Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick on Big Show, the challenger makes a quick retreat as Sheamus delivers a Brogue Kick to the last security guard left standing!
