WWE RAW Results: May 7, 2012

    WWE Raw

    Wwe Cm Punk Ew2

    The GM handicaps CM Punk.

Thirteen nights before WWE Over The Limit, the 989th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW SuperShow came to you, live, from the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, NC. After the shocking and heinous assault by Brock Lesnar last week where “The War Machine” used his diabolical Kimura Lock to break the arm of WWE COO Triple H, what is the status of “The Game” and what will be the ramifications for Brock Lesnar? Last week’s RAW concluded with another surprising assault as RAW & SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis, with the help of Lord Tensai and Sakamoto, viciously assaulted the already injured arm of John Cena, using a steel chair to crush Cena’s arm, all following the announcement that Laurinaitis himself will go one-on-one with Cena at Over The Limit, but will this assault by the GM cost Laurinaitis his job? What will Triple H and the WWE Board of Directors have to say about it, if anything?

    Match Results

    • Intercontinental Championship: Big Show def. Cody Rhodes (c) by intentional count-out. As a result, Cody Rhodes (c) retains.
    • Dolph Ziggler (with Jack Swagger & Vickie Guerrero) def. Kofi Kingston (with R-Truth) by pin following the Zig Zag.
    • Layla & Kelly Kelly def. Natalya & Maxine by Layla pinning Maxine following the Lay Out.
    • Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) def. Sheamus & Randy Orton by Chris Jericho pinning Sheamus following the Codebreaker.
    • Brodus Clay def. The Miz by pin following the Funkasplash.
    • 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Non-Title: Daniel Bryan & Lord Tensai (with Sakamoto) def. CM Punk by Lord Tensai pinning CM Punk with the Claw.

    Detailed Results

One week after he, along with Lord Tensai and Sakamoto, led a vicious assault on John Cena, RAW kicks off with RAW & SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis. The GM says that he is the “undisputed leader and authority figure in the WWE” and he will not allow anyone to challenge his authority or his leadership skills. Laurinaitis continues that, last week, John Cena called him an “idiot” and a “corporate jackass”, adding that, when he loses his temper, he goes into a “fit of destruction”. The GM then says that, while Brock Lesnar injured Cena’s arm, he injured Cena’s “pride” before saying that, at Over The Limit, he will continue where Lesnar left off. Laurinaitis continues that, if Cena thinks he was humbled by Lesnar, then he is going to show Cena and the fans how “skillful and dangerous” that he can be. Laurinaitis then says that he will not apologize to John Cena for his actions, adding that he was not reprimanded by the WWE Board of Directors for his assault on Cena! The GM then says that the Board of Directors understand that he is “tough, but fair” before saying that he does not want Cena to be there on RAW because he wants Cena to rehabilitate his shoulder so that he will be ready for their match at Over The Limit. Laurinaitis continues that Cena will appear, live via satellite, in an exclusive interview with Michael Cole, an interview that will see Cena “apologize” to Laurinaitis for making fun of his voice. The GM then says that, any Superstar that makes fun of his voice, will suffer “severe consequences” before explaining the issue with his voice as Laurinaitis reveals that his throat was injured during a match against “Dr. Death” Steve Williams in Tokyo, Japan. Laurinaitis then says that his injury did not stop him from becoming the “biggest Superstar in Japanese history”. Laurinaitis continues that he was the “Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock all rolled into one” in Japan, but he denied a contract with the WWE back in the day before saying that his match against John Cena will be bigger than Brock vs. Cena or Rock vs. Cena. Laurinaitis then says “may god bless People Power” and “may god have mercy on John Cena”.

General Manager John Laurinaitis is then interrupted by a familiar rival in the WWE Champion himself, CM Punk. The champion tells Laurinaitis that the GM has “no idea” what the fans want, but Punk offers to tell Laurinaitis what the fans want to see, but says they should backtrack a bit by explaining what the fans do not want to see. Punk then says what the fans do not want to see is Laurinaitis and the GM’s “revisionist history” of Laurinaitis’ time in Japan. Punk continues that, what the whole thing is about is the GM putting his “chips” on Brock Lesnar and then John Cena beat him and this embarrassed Laurinaitis, so Laurinaitis attacks the already injured Cena. The WWE Champion then tells Laurinaitis that the GM had to compete in Japan because there was not a territory or a person in the United States that wanted to pay to see Laurinaitis’ “rotten ass” compete. Punk continues that the GM was a “joke” then and he is a “joke” now. The WWE Champion then vows to defeat Daniel Bryan at Over The Limit before he watches Cena defeat Laurinaitis. The GM asks Punk if he is done, but Punk continues to insult Laurinaitis and Laurinaitis responds by saying that, if he was not training for his match against Cena, then he would “pummel” the WWE Champion. The GM then informs Punk that the WWE Champion will be facing a man who knows the word “respect” as Punk will go one-on-one with Lord Tensai! Punk says that he is not surprised because Laurinaitis has always had other people do his heavy lifting before saying that he looks forward to the challenge, just like he looks forward to seeing John Cena twisting Laurinaitis up and making him tap out! With his WWE Title defense against Daniel Bryan just under two weeks away at Over The Limit, what kind of condition will CM Punk be in after colliding with the undefeated “Lord of Disaster” Lord Tensai?

Moments before he gets his rematch against Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Title, Big Show is backstage when he is ran into by John Laurinaitis, who shouts at the giant, asking if Show does not know how to get out of the way. Show then mocks the GM, but is seen by Executive Administrator Eve before Big Show walks off.

Eight nights after he inadvertently stepped through a table, losing the Tables Match and the Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show challenges Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Title in the opening match of the night! During the match, Cody Rhodes escapes to the outside of the ring, grabbing the Intercontinental Title and fleeing from Big Show, getting himself intentionally counted out to keep the title. After the match, Big Show dares Cody Rhodes to come back in the ring and not take the “coward’s way out”. While Cody Rhodes opts not to come back to the ring, Executive Administrator Eve does make her way to the ring to confront Big Show as Eve demands that the giant apologize for making fun of John Laurinaitis’ voice. Big Show says that he is sorry, but Eve says that she does not want Show to say he is sorry, she wants an apology. Eve then tells Big Show that, outside of the wrestling business, there is no place for a “seven-foot, 441 pound, 40-year old freak” before once again demanding an apology. Holding back his anger, Big Show begrudgingly apologizes for making fun of John Laurinaitis.

After he and R-Truth defeated Primo & Epico to win the WWE Tag Team Titles on last week’s RAW, new WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston, with R-Truth in his corner, went one-on-one with “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler, with Jack Swagger & Vickie Guerrero in his corner. During the match, Vickie Guerrero would get on the ring apron, but R-Truth would also get on the apron, distracting the referee long enough for Jack Swagger to knock Kofi Kingston off of the second rope, allowing Dolph Ziggler to take advantage, hitting the Zig Zag en route to picking up the win.

After being assaulted by John Laurinaitis, Lord Tensai, and Sakamato last week, John Cena appears live via satellite for an exclusive interview with Michael Cole. Cena says that, while doctors advise him not to compete for a few months, nothing will keep him from facing John Laurinaitis at Over The Limit. Cena then reveals that, unlike John Laurinaitis, he was contacted by the WWE Board of Directors and he made sure to let them know that he does not want them to take any action against Laurinaitis until he gets his hands on him at Over The Limit! Michael Cole says that he has been studying tapes of Laurinaitis’ wrestling career and he was impressed to the point that he believes that, deep down, Cena might be “scared” of Laurinaitis. Cena says that is scared, scared that Laurinaitis might hurt himself before Over The Limit before saying that he will take “full advantage” of getting to face Laurinaitis in a match as he will kick Laurinaitis’ ass at Over The Limit!

With former Divas Champion Beth Phoenix a guest on commentary, Divas Champion Layla teamed with former champion Kelly Kelly to face the team of Natalya and NXT Diva Maxine. In the end, it was Layla hitting the Lay Out on Maxine en route to picking up the win for herself and Kelly Kelly. In thirteen nights at Over The Limit, Beth Phoenix will get her mandatory rematch against Layla for the Divas Title. Can Layla retain the gold in her first pay-per-view title defense or will “The Glamazon” begin another dominant reign as champion?

With his World Heavyweight Title defense against Alberto Del Rio rapidly approaching at Over The Limit, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus teamed with “The Viper” Randy Orton to face “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio and six-time World Champion Chris Jericho. During the match, Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick on Chris Jericho, but Jericho ducks out of the way and Sheamus inadvertently lays his partner, Randy Orton, out instead! Chris Jericho then takes advantage of the situation as Jericho hits the Codebreaker on Sheamus en route to pinning the World Heavyweight Champion to pick up the win for himself and Alberto Del Rio. After the match, Sheamus would help Randy Orton to his feet, but Orton responds by dropping the World Heavyweight Champion with the RKO!

Backstage, Chris Jericho barges into RAW & SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis’ office, saying that, since he just pinned Sheamus, he should get the next shot at the World Heavyweight Title. However, Alberto Del Rio enters, saying that he defeated Sheamus a long time ago, so he is the rightful contender. Randy Orton then joins the conversation, saying that he deserves a title shot, but this leads to an all-out brawl between Orton, Del Rio, Jericho, and Sheamus. After running Del Rio and Jericho out of the office, Sheamus and Randy Orton argue over what had just took place in the ring. This leads to John Laurinaitis informing Sheamus that the World Heavyweight Title match at Over The Limit will now be a Fatal 4-Way Match as Sheamus will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho, and Randy Orton!

“The Funkasaurus” was in action on RAW as Brodus Clay, with The Funkadactyls, Cameron & Naomi in tow, went one-on-one with The Miz. In the end, it was Brodus Clay hitting the Funkasplash on The Miz en route to picking up the win.

It was announced during RAW that, on next week’s show, WWE COO Triple H will appear live on RAW to address Brock Lesnar’s assault on him that left him with a broken arm and severe ligament damage.

While an “invitation” was extended for Brock Lesnar to appear on RAW, Brock opted to send his “legal representation” instead, but while the fans awaited some sort of no-name lawyer type, the man that walked out was none other than the mastermind behind the original ECW and the man who managed Brock Lesnar throughout the early part of his WWE career, Paul Heyman! Amidst “ECW” chants from the fans, Paul Heyman says he is there as the legal representation for Brock Lesnar as Heyman says that Brock is “the single most destructive athlete in the history of the WWE”, saying that Brock has been “unappreciated” by the fans since day one. Heyman continues that today’s WWE is much different than it was ten years ago as today’s WWE is “image-conscious”. Heyman says that Brock feels “betrayed” by the fans and he should not have to feel that way and, above all of Lesnar’s accomplishments, Lesnar is an “honest man” as Brock delivered on every promise he made. Heyman then reads an official statement from Brock Lesnar as Brock stated that he was brought back to the WWE, but driven away by the same “corporate B.S.” that made him leave in the first place. The statement goes on to say that Lesnar “embarrassed” John Cena, as well as Triple H and he does not regret attacking either one of them. The statement continues that Triple H has always been “jealous” of Brock and, since the COO broke the agreement, Lesnar broke his arm. The statement then concludes that he does not care about the fans and he does not care about the WWE, adding that he is “never coming back” because he “quits”!

As punishment for insulting General Manager John Laurinaitis earlier in the night, WWE Champion CM Punk was set to go one-on-one with “The Lord of Disaster” Lord Tensai, but as Punk makes his way to the ring, John Laurinaitis informs the WWE Champion that he will be competing in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match against Lord Tensai and the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, “The Yes Man” Daniel Bryan! During the match, Lord Tensai’s worshipper, Sakamoto, distracts the referee, allowing Daniel Bryan to knock CM Punk off of his perch on the top turnbuckle. This allows Lord Tensai to take advantage, hitting the Disaster Bomb before spewing the mysterious green mist into his hand and slamming the WWE Champion down with The Claw, pinning Punk to pick up the win for himself and Daniel Bryan. After the match, Daniel Bryan would strike, locking in the Yes Lock on the vulnerable WWE Champion! Will this be the fate of CM Punk come Over The Limit?
