WWE Friday Night SmackDown June 10, 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | June 10, 2011
    WWE SmackDown

Nine nights before WWE Capitol Punishment, the 616th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, VA. One week after costing Sheamus the World Heavyweight Title as the Special Referee in a title match between Sheamus and champion, Randy Orton, only to smash Randy Orton in the skull with the World Heavyweight Title belt after the match and walking off with the title belt in his possession, the fallout of Christian’s shocking actions would be felt on SmackDown!

    Match Results

    • 6-Man Tag: Ezekiel Jackson & Jimmy & Jey Uso def. The Corre (Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, & Justin Gabriel) by Justin Gabriel submitting to the torture rack of Ezekiel Jackson.
    • Jinder Mahal (with The Great Khali) def. Trent Barreta by pin following the full nelson side slam.
    • A.J. def. Tamina by roll-up.
    • Sin Cara def. Ted DiBiase by DQ after Cody Rhodes interferes.
    • Sin Cara & Daniel Bryan def. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase by Ted DiBiase submitting to the LeBell Lock of Daniel Bryan.
    • No DQ: Non-Title: Sheamus (with Christian) def. Randy Orton by pin following a World Heavyweight Title belt shot by Christian.

    Detailed Results

One week after costing Sheamus the World Heavyweight Title moments before smashing World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton in the skull with the World Heavyweight Title belt, the show kicks off with “Captain Charisma” Christian as Christian claims that he was “screwed” out of the World Heavyweight Title several weeks ago and was “screwed” out of the #1 Contender’s spot two weeks ago, so he was “justified” in doing what he did last week! Christian continues that some of the fans “don’t quite get it”, so he is “through” with all of them and he “does not want to talk” to any of his “so called peeps” ever again! Christian then says that there is “one person” that he will “talk to” before calling the self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole into the ring! Cole complies and Christian explains to the commentator that the same “peeps” that cheered for him when he won the World Heavyweight Title are the same ones that do not support him smashing Randy Orton in the skull last week! Christian continues that he does not understand how SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long is running SmackDown by polling the fans with the results influencing the GM’s decision! Christian continues that the fans had “no right” ruining what he had worked seventeen years to accomplish and it was “disrespectful” and he was “especially” disrespected by one person, Randy Orton, as Orton accepted a World Heavyweight Title match just five nights after Christian competed in a Ladder Match! Christian then has Michael Cole ask the fans if they think he “deserves” to be the World Heavyweight Champion and Cole does so before Christian states that the fans are “completely and utterly clueless” before proclaiming that he will be the World Heavyweight Champion again, he is going to do it for himself because he is not going to “share it” with any of the fans! Christian then tells Cole that it was a “good talk” before exiting the ring! How will World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton respond to what Christian had to say?

One week after Wade Barrett sent his Corre teammates, Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel, to the wolves as Slater & Gabriel would be dominated by Ezekiel Jackson, The Corre would be in 6-Man Tag action against “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson and his teammates, Jimmy & Jey Uso! In the middle of the match, Wade Barrett would once again leave Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel high and dry as the Intercontinental Champion would walk out on the match, leaving Slater & Gabriel to be demolished by Ezekiel Jackson and Jimmy & Jey Uso as Jimmy & Jey would deliver a double super kick to Heath Slater before Ezekiel Jackson would deliver several slams to Justin Gabriel before forcing Gabriel to submit to the torture rack! What will happen in nine nights at Capitol Punishment when Ezekiel Jackson gets another shot at Wade Barrett and the Intercontinental Title? What will Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel’s roles be in the title match after being abandoned by Wade Barrett two weeks in a row?

Moments after Wade Barrett abandoned them to be dismantled by Ezekiel Jackson for the second week in a row, Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel confront their Corre teammate, Wade Barrett, in the backstage area as Barrett tells Slater & Gabriel that he is the one who has to defend the Intercontinental Title at Capitol Punishment, not them, and what he just did will “help” The Corre! Slater & Gabriel fire back by telling Barrett that Barrett did it to “help” himself, which Barrett responds to by telling his teammates that they would be “nothing” without him and Slater & Gabriel respond by telling Barrett that they will “find out” as they wish Barrett “good luck” in defending the Intercontinental Title because The Corre is “through”! Now that The Corre is apparently no more, can Wade Barrett hang on to the Intercontinental Title when he defends the gold in a one-on-one match against Ezekiel Jackson at Capitol Punishment?

One week after his impressive in-ring debut, “The Puppet Master” Jinder Mahal, with The Great Khali in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Dude Buster” Trent Barreta! In the end, it was a distraction by The Great Khali that would ultimately allow Jinder Mahal to hit the full nelson side slam on Trent Barreta en route to picking up the win! After the match, Jinder Mahal would instruct The Great Khali to torture Trent Barreta further as Khali would lock in the Khali Vise Grip on Barreta, leaving Barreta laid out in the center of the ring!

One week after her protégés, A.J. & Kaitlyn lost in tag team action for the second week in a row, Natalya would be at ringside as A.J. would go one-on-one with Tamina, with Rosa Mendes in her corner! In the end, it was A.J. fighting out of the Samoan Drop of Tamina to roll Tamina up to pick up her first win since coming to SmackDown!

After being cracked in the skull with the World Heavyweight Title belt by Christian last week, the World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton, would appear on SmackDown as Orton states that Christian was running his mouth before he arrived in the arena before Orton calls Christian out to say whatever Christian has to say to his face! However, Christian would appear on the Tron as Christian is in the parking lot as he tells Orton to ask the fans if he wants Christian to come out there and Christian mocks Theodore Long before saying that he knows that Orton wants to do “more than talk”, so he will not come out there! Orton then tells Christian to be “man” and come out there before stating that “beating the hell” out of Christian would only be an “added bonus”! Christian responds by saying that all he wants is “one more match” for the World Heavyweight Title and Orton says that he does not “care” what Christian “wants” and Christian replies by explaining that he could have cost Orton the World Heavyweight Title when he was the Special Referee last week, but he didn’t because he wants to “beat” Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title, not Sheamus, so Orton should be “thanking” him! Orton explains that he has already beaten Christian twice and he is ready to beat Christian a third time right, but Christian states that he will get his title match on his “terms” before challenging Randy Orton to a match for the World Heavyweight Title at Capitol Punishment, which Randy Orton wastes no time in accepting! What will happen in nine nights at Capitol Punishment when Randy Orton gets his hands on Christian? Will Randy Orton extract his revenge on Christian en route to retaining the World Heavyweight Title or will this new attitude of Christian’s lead to Christian regaining the gold?

One week after Sin Cara saved Daniel Bryan from a two-on-one assault by Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, “The International Sensation” Sin Cara would go one-on-one with “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase, with Cody Rhodes in his corner! During the match, Cody Rhodes would get involved, resulting in a disqualification win for Sin Cara, but things would look bleak for Cara as Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase would attack Sin Cara, but Daniel Bryan would return the favor from last week by coming to the aid of Sin Cara, which would lead to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long announcing a tag team match pitting Sin Cara & Daniel Bryan against Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase! In the end, it was Daniel Bryan locking in the LeBell Lock on Ted DiBiase, forcing DiBiase to tap out to pick up the win for himself and Sin Cara!

Then it was time for the main event as, nine nights before he defends the World Heavyweight Title against Christian at Capitol Punishment, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus in a non-title rematch with no disqualifications! During the match, Sheamus would take full advantage of the no disqualification stipulation by heading to the outside of the ring and getting the larger bottom half of the steel steps and driving them into the back of Randy Orton, but later on in the match, Orton would be able to counter the relentless onslaught of Sheamus as Orton would deliver a vicious slam to Sheamus onto the steel steps! Somehow managing to get back into the match, Sheamus would head to the outside of the ring and grab a kendo stick before Sheamus would wear Orton out with several stick shots, but Orton would continue to fight back as Orton would dodge an attempted Brogue Kick by Sheamus before tying Sheamus up in the ropes by his ankle! The positioning and entrapment of Sheamus would allow the sadistic side of Randy Orton to show as Orton would get his hands on the kendo stick as Orton would swing away at Sheamus with the kendo stick! Shortly after this, Orton would look ready to finish the match off, but Christian would come out of nowhere and attack Randy Orton, but Orton would fight Christian off, but Sheamus would still be able to temporarily take advantage! However, Orton would fight his way out of the High Cross by Sheamus and would dodge the Brogue Kick a second time before hitting the RKO on Sheamus, but before Orton could capitalize, Christian would blast Orton in the back of the head with the World Heavyweight Title belt and would stand over Orton holding the title belt as Sheamus would pin the World Heavyweight Champion to pick up the win! After being blasted in the skull with his own World Heavyweight Title belt by Christian two weeks in a row, what will Randy Orton have in store for Christian in nine nights at Capitol Punishment?
