WWE Friday Night SmackDown May 27, 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | May 27, 2011
    WWE SmackDown

Five nights after an unforgettable WWE Over The Limit, the 614th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Spokane Arena in Spokane, WA. Five nights after failing to regain the World Heavyweight Title from Randy Orton at Over The Limit, Christian would appear on SmackDown to address the WWE and, also on SmackDown, the next challenger for Randy Orton’s World Heavyweight Title would be revealed!

    Match Results

    • Sin Cara def. Chavo Guerrero by pin following the modified tilt-a-whirl head scissors.
    • Daniel Bryan def. Cody Rhodes by submission to the LeBell Lock.
    • Ezekiel Jackson and Heath Slater fight to a No Contest after Wade Barrett & Justin Gabriel come out.
    • Monster’s Brawl: Kane def. The Great Khali by pin following a clothesline off of the top rope.
    • Alicia Fox & Tamina def. A.J. & Kaitlyn by Alicia Fox pinning Kaitlyn following the Fox Kick.
    • #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Title: Sheamus (with Randy Orton) def. Christian & Mark Henry by pinning Christian following the Brogue Kick to earn a shot at the World Heavyweight Title on next week’s SmackDown.

    Detailed Results

Five nights after successfully defending the World Heavyweight Title in a hard-fought match against Christian at Over The Limit, the show kicks off with World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton as “The Viper” proclaims that he is “still the World Heavyweight Champion” before Orton is quickly interrupted by the man he defeated at Over The Limit in “Captain Charisma” Christian! Christian tells the World Heavyweight Champion that their match at Over The Limit was one of the “greatest” of his career before telling Randy Orton “congratulations” and saying that Orton “deserves” to be the World Heavyweight Champion! Christian then states that their match could of went “either way”, but Orton won, but he “knows” that he can defeat Randy Orton before issuing another challenge to Randy Orton for another shot at the World Heavyweight Title!

Before the champion can respond, both men are interrupted by “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus, who asks Christian how many chances he needs and that Christian reminds him of a “sad, pathetic gambling addict” because Christian bets on winning the World Heavyweight Title and “loses everything”! Sheamus continues that Christian “believes” that it will “happen” this time, but it won’t before Sheamus tells Christian that it is going to take Christian another “seventeen years” to be the World Heavyweight Champion and that Christian is a “two-time loser” after losing his rematch at Over The Limit! Sheamus then touts that he is a two-time WWE Champion and he came to SmackDown to compete with the likes of Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title before proclaiming that he is the “star of the show” and if anyone is going to get a title shot, it is going to be him!

The interruptions would then continue with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry coming out as Henry states that he is going to interject some “good sense” into the conversation before Henry tells Christian that Edge is on a “retirement golf course” waiting, so Christian should not miss his “tee time”! Henry then tells Sheamus that he does not “wait in lines”, he “butts in” before telling Randy Orton that he just “butted” his way in to the “front of the line” for a World Heavyweight Title opportunity!

This would bring out SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long as the GM states that he “agrees” with Sheamus and Mark Henry in their assessment that Christian already had his shot at the title before Long would do the same thing he did several weeks ago as the GM would poll the audience on who they think should challenge for the World Heavyweight Title with the fans showing overwhelming support for Christian getting another title shot! Long would then announce that the main event of SmackDown would be a Triple Threat Match with Sheamus, Mark Henry, & Christian battling for the opportunity to become the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title! Will Christian get another rematch against Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title or will Sheamus or Mark Henry get their first shot at the gold since coming to SmackDown?

Five nights after an impressive victory over Chavo Guerrero at Over The Limit, “The Mystical Sensation” Sin Cara would go one-on-one with “The Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero in a rematch from Over The Limit! In the end, it was Sin Cara hitting his modified tilt-a-whirl head scissors, sending Chavo Guerrero face-first into the mat en route to picking up another impressive victory!

Before competing on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes would come out with his assistants as Rhodes states that, with every city he comes to, he hopes to see a “mildly attractive face”, but every time, he is “disappointed” before, once again, ordering his assistants to hand out paper bags to the Spokane fans to put them on to cover their faces as Rhodes proclaims that he is a “hero” before being interrupted by his opponent, “The American Dragon” Daniel Bryan! At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Daniel Bryan going for the LeBell Lock and, with the move not even all the way locked in, Cody Rhodes would quickly tap out! After the match, Cody Rhodes would attack Daniel Bryan from behind before taking Bryan to the outside and sending him back-first into the ringside barricade before Rhodes rolls Bryan back into the ring and laying Bryan out with the Cross Rhodes! Cody Rhodes would then prop Daniel Bryan up on the bottom ring rope before placing a paper bag over the head of Daniel Bryan!

Five nights after he and fellow Corre members Wade Barrett & Justin Gabriel were responsible for costing Ezekiel Jackson the Intercontinental Title before being part of a three-on-one attack on Ezekiel at Over The Limit, Corre member Heath Slater would go one-on-one with “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson! In the end, it was Ezekiel Jackson hoisting Heath Slater up for the torture rack, but Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel would rush out, but Ezekiel Jackson would be prepared this time as Ezekiel would twice knock Wade Barrett off of the ring apron before delivering a scoop slam to Justin Gabriel, followed by a scoop slam to Heath Slater, forcing The Corre to retreat as Ezekiel Jackson stands tall! Ezekiel Jackson has proven that he can single-handedly combat The Corre, but how will The Corre respond to the domination shown by Ezekiel Jackson?

Four nights after his tag team partner, Big Show, had his leg ran over by Alberto Del Rio’s Ferrari on RAW, resulting in internal injuries to Big Show’s knee that will leave Big Show out of action for several weeks, “The Big Red Machine” Kane would go one-on-one with “The Punjabi Giant” The Great Khali, with his brother and translator Ranjin Singh in his corner, in a Monster’s Brawl! In the end, it was Kane soaring off the top rope with his signature clothesline, taking The Great Khali off of his feet before rolling Khali up for the win! After the match, The Great Khali’s brother and translator, Ranjin Singh, would help Khali to his feet as Jinder Mahal would come out, shouting in Hindi at Khali and Singh before Jinder would slap Khali! Jinder Mahal would then confront Ranjin Singh, shoving Singh, which Khali would respond to by shoving Jinder Mahal, but as Ranjin Singh would shout at Jinder Mahal, The Great Khali’s actions would speak louder than the Hindi words exchanged as Khali would lock in the Khali Vise Grip on his own brother, Ranjin Singh, leaving Singh laid out in the ring before leaving with Jinder Mahal! Why did The Great Khali turn on his brother and what is the relationship between The Great Khali and Jinder Mahal?

SmackDown Color Commentator and six-time World Champion Booker T would then make an appearance in the ring as Booker would state that there is something that he “needs” to do before inviting the self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole into the ring and, after some reluctance, Michael Cole would enter the ring! Booker T would then proceed to ridicule Michael Cole over having to be covered in barbecue sauce and having the toes of Jerry “The King” Lawler stuffed in his mouth at Over The Limit as Booker would leave Cole on the verge of tears after leading the crowd in a chant of “kiss my feet” before an insulted Michael Cole would exit the ring and go back to his spot at the announce table!

With Natalya taking a vested interest in the former Rookie Divas as their new manager and mentor, the winner of NXT Season Three, Kaitlyn, would team with the newest SmackDown Diva, NXT Season Three finalist A.J. as the new team would face the team of second-generation competitor, Tamina, and former Divas Champion Alicia Fox! In the end, it was the experience of Tamina & Alicia Fox overcoming A.J. & Kaitlyn as Alicia Fox would hit the Fox Kick on Kaitlyn en route to picking up the win for her team!

Then it was time for the main event as a new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title would be determined as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry, and former World Heavyweight Champion Christian would face off in a Triple Threat Match with their winner earning the opportunity to challenge Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title on next week’s SmackDown! In the middle of the match, the action would temporarily halt as World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would come out and take a seat at ringside for the match! During the match, Mark Henry would find himself on the outside of the ring where Henry would shove Randy Orton before re-entering the match! Christian would then hit the Spear on Sheamus, but as Christian struggles to get to the cover on Sheamus, Randy Orton would enter the ring to retaliate against Mark Henry as Orton would hit the RKO on Mark Henry! The referee would then struggle to get Randy Orton out of the ring and, after getting Orton out of the ring, the referee would start the delayed three count, but the delay would give Sheamus time to recover enough to kick and, as Christian argues with the referee over just what took place, Sheamus would get back to his feet and deliver the Brogue Kick to Christian en route to picking up the win to earn a shot at the World Heavyweight Title on next week’s SmackDown! What will happen next week when Randy Orton defends the World Heavyweight Title against Sheamus? Can Sheamus unseat Randy Orton to become the new World Heavyweight Champion or will Randy Orton retain the gold?

Thanks for posting this but — please — learn how to use your time tenses. All that “would …” stuff makes your article difficult to keep reading.
