WWE Friday Night SmackDown May 20, 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | May 20, 2011
    WWE SmackDown

Just two nights before WWE Over The Limit, the 613th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. Two nights before he defends the World Heavyweight Title against the former champion, Christian, at Over The Limit, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry in a non-title match!

    Match Results

    • Christian def. Sheamus by roll-up.
    • Non-Title: Brie Bella def. Natalya by pin following the Bella Buster.
    • 6-Man Tag: Ezekiel Jackson, Kane, & Big Show def. The Corre by Justin Gabriel submitting to a torture rack by Ezekiel Jackson.
    • 5-Minute Challenge: Chavo Guerrero and Daniel Bryan fight to a No Contest when the five minute time limit expires.
    • Ted DiBiase def. Trent Barreta by pin following Dream Street.
    • The Great Khali (with Jinder Mahal) def. Jey Uso by pin following the Punjabi Plunge.
    • Non-Title: Randy Orton def. Mark Henry by DQ after Sheamus interferes.

    Detailed Results

Two nights before he gets the opportunity to reclaim his dream when he challenges Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title at Over The Limit, SmackDown kicks off with Christian in action as “Captain Charisma” would go one-on-one with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus! At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Christian escaping the Pale Justice of Sheamus and rolling Sheamus up to pick up the win over Sheamus! After the match, Mark Henry would march out to the ring as Henry and an angry Sheamus would enter the ring to attack Christian in a two-on-one beat down, but World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would come out! However, Orton would appear conflicted on whether or not to help his Over The Limit opponent before deciding to come to the aid of Christian as Orton would send both Sheamus and Mark Henry packing before helping Christian to his feet! While Randy Orton and Christian are cordial for now, it does not change the fact that these two ring warriors will square off with the World Heavyweight Title on the line this Sunday at Over The Limit, but with Randy Orton facing Mark Henry in the main event, could Randy Orton put himself in danger just two nights before he defends the gold?

It was announced during SmackDown that, after Kelly Kelly defeated Brie Bella on RAW, Kelly Kelly will challenge Brie Bella for the Divas Title this Sunday night at Over The Limit! Can Kelly Kelly defeat Brie Bella a second time to win the Divas Title? After targeting every WWE Diva on both RAW and SmackDown and letting her intentions known for Kelly Kelly on RAW, what role will the “Diva of Destruction” Kharma have at Over The Limit?

Two nights before she defends the Divas Title against Kelly Kelly at Over The Limit, Brie Bella would be in action on SmackDown as the Divas Champion, with her twin sister, Nikki, in her corner, would go one-on-one with Natalya in a non-title match! In the end, it was Brie Bella hitting the Bella Buster on Natalya en route to picking up the win! Can Brie Bella achieve the same success this Sunday at Over The Limit when she defends the Divas Title against Kelly Kelly?

Two nights before he challenges his former Corre teammate, Wade Barrett, for the Intercontinental Title at Over The Limit, “Big Zeke” Ezekiel Jackson would appear on SmackDown as Jackson states that, when he arrived on SmackDown, he wanted to write a “new chapter in the Book of Ezekiel”, so he joined The Corre and the group would “take over” SmackDown! Ezekiel then states that The Corre would not “let” him “walk away” from the group and he is “man enough to admit” that he has taken a “beating” by The Corre the last two weeks, but The Corre has “unleashed a force” and he will “not rest” until all three members of The Corre have “suffered”! Ezekiel then proclaims that it is “written in the Book of Ezekiel” that Wade Barrett’s reign as Intercontinental Champion will come to an end because he is the “personification of domination”! This brings out the three members of The Corre as Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, & Justin Gabriel come out and surround the ring, ready to attack Ezekiel Jackson, but SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long comes out to prevent the attack before making the big announcement that, if The Corre want to see some “action”, then he will give it to them before Long makes an impromptu 6-Man Tag Match where The Corre will face Ezekiel Jackson and his teammates, the WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show!

Per the orders of SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, an impromptu 6-Man Tag Match would take place on SmackDown as “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson would team with WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show to face The Corre; Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, & Justin Gabriel! In the end, it was the scary strength of Ezekiel Jackson that would rule over all as, with Wade Barrett watching in disbelief, Ezekiel would put Justin Gabriel in the torture rack, forcing Gabriel to submit! Can Ezekiel Jackson use the same unreal strength to dominate Wade Barrett at Over The Limit to secure the Intercontinental Title?

One week after lending an unwanted helping hand to Sin Cara, allowing Cara to defeat Daniel Bryan, only for Cara to shove him down, “The Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero would make an appearance on SmackDown as Chavo would claim that he “taught” Sin Cara everything he knows and that Sin Cara could not defeat Daniel Bryan without his help last week before Chavo claims that he can defeat Daniel Bryan in under “five minutes” which is more than he will need to defeat Sin Cara this Sunday at Over The Limit!

Two nights before he goes one-on-one with Sin Cara at Over The Limit, “The Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero would go one-on-one with “The American Dragon” Daniel Bryan in a 5-Minute Challenge set up by Chavo himself! In the end, Chavo Guerrero would hit the Frog Splash on Daniel Bryan with ten seconds left on the clock, but with Daniel Bryan kicking out twice, Chavo would fail to beat the clock against Daniel Bryan! After the match, a frustrated Chavo Guerrero would look to take it out on Daniel Bryan as Chavo would send Bryan shoulder-first into the steel ring post, but before Chavo could do any more damage, Sin Cara would come out and would send Chavo careening out of the ring! What will happen this Sunday at Over The Limit when Sin Cara goes one-on-one with Chavo Guerrero?

One week after being insulted and defeated by his former teammate, Cody Rhodes, “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase would actually appear on SmackDown alongside Cody Rhodes and Rhodes’ assistants as, while Rhodes’ assistants handed out paper bags to the crowd, Cody Rhodes would instruct Ted DiBiase to put a bag on his head! DiBiase would comply and Rhodes would ask DiBiase his name and, with a Latino accent akin to that of Speedy Gonzalez, DiBiase would say his name is “Corpus Christi” before stating that “Corpus Christi” and its residents are all “hideous”! Rhodes would continue that, the “only reason” that someone would wear a paper bag is because “once was a blooming flower is now a wilted shrub” before asking if “Corpus Christi” has anything else to say before Ted DiBiase takes the bag off his head and tells Cody Rhodes, in his own voice, to bring out his opponent!

After posing as “Corpus Christi” to assist in ridiculing the crowd, “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase, with Cody Rhodes in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Dude Buster” Trent Barreta! In the end, it was Ted DiBiase picking up a dominant victory over Trent Barreta after hitting Dream Street! After the match, Cody Rhodes would come back into the ring and would hand Ted DiBiase a paper bag as Rhodes’ new associate would place the bag over the head of Trent Barreta! Why has Ted DiBiase realigned himself with Cody Rhodes and allowing himself to be demeaned by Rhodes?

One week after being slapped across the face repeatedly by Jinder Mahal with no response, “The Punjabi Giant” The Great Khali, with his brother Ranjin Singh nowhere in sight, would go one-on-one with Jey Uso, with Jimmy Uso in his corner! In the middle of the match that was being dominated by The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal would walk out to the ring, lecturing Khali in Hindi before Jinder would slap Khali again before Khali would head back into the ring and plant Jey Uso with a dominant Punjabi Plunge en route to Khali picking up the win! After the match and, to the joy of Jinder Mahal, The Great Khali would deliver a chop to the head of Jimmy Uso, leaving Jimmy Uso laid out as well! What is the connection between The Great Khali and Jinder Mahal and why does Khali allow Mahal to slap him with no retaliation?

Then it was time for the main event as, just two nights before he defends the World Heavyweight Title against the former champion, Christian, at Over The Limit, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry in a non-title match! In the middle of the match, it was nearly déjà vu from what happened earlier in the night as Sheamus would rush the ring and attack Randy Orton, which would lead to a two-on-one attack by Sheamus and Mark Henry on the World Heavyweight Champion, but Christian would come out! However, in a move similar to what Orton did earlier in the night, Christian would waste an ample amount of time watching the beat down before finally coming to the aid of his Over The Limit opponent as the two would clear the ring of Sheamus and Mark Henry! Orton would then argue with Christian over Christian’s delayed assistance, but the argument would be interrupted by Sheamus and Mark Henry re-entering the ring, but Christian would take care of Sheamus before saving Randy Orton from being press slammed by Mark Henry with a kick to the mid-section, which would allow Orton to hit the RKO on “The World’s Strongest Man” before Orton shakes the hand of Christian, thanking his Over The Limit opponent! What will happen this Sunday at Over The Limit when the exchanging of pleasantries will come to an end as Randy Orton will defend the World Heavyweight Title against the man he took it from, Christian? Can Christian reclaim his dream of being the World Heavyweight Champion or will Randy Orton derail Christian’s dreams once again?
