WWE Over The Limit 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | May 23, 2011
    WWE PPVs

The second annual WWE Over The Limit came to you, live on pay-per-view, from the KeyArena at the Seattle Center in Seattle, WA. After years of proving that he will not give up, John Cena will have his merit tested once again, this time against The Miz as “The Champ” will defend the WWE Title against the former champion, The Miz, in the unforgiving “I Quit” Match, where the only way to win is to force your opponent to say the words, “I Quit”!

At Extreme Rules, Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio in a Ladder Match to achieve his seventeen year dream of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion, but that dream would be shattered just five nights later at the hands of Randy Orton as “The Viper” would win the World Heavyweight Title, but at Over The Limit, Christian would get the chance to reclaim his dream as Christian would challenge Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title!

After taking on a new, unbalanced outlook, R-Truth has blamed and attacked everyone for his problems and, at Over The Limit, Truth will face his latest target in “The Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio! After being ex-communicated from The Corre and attacked by the group the last two weeks, “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson would challenge his former teammate, Wade Barrett, for the Intercontinental Title!

After recent failed run-ins with Kane & Big Show, New Nexus leader CM Punk has vowed that The New Nexus will get back on track and re-establish themselves as the most dominant force on RAW and, at Over The Limit, CM Punk would team with the powerhouse of The New Nexus, Mason Ryan, to challenge Kane & Big Show for the WWE Tag Team Titles!

After losing to Michael Cole at WrestleMania and Extreme Rules, Jerry “The King” Lawler has had to listen to Michael Cole tout his “undefeated” streak, but at Over The Limit, the Hall of Famer will get his shot at revenge as Jerry Lawler will put his Hall of Fame ring on the line to face Michael Cole, who alienated his only ally, Jack Swagger, leaving him all alone to face Jerry Lawler in a “Kiss My Foot” Match where the loser of the match must kiss the winner’s foot and, if Michael Cole wins, then Jerry Lawler will personally induct Michael Cole into the Hall of Fame!

Since Sin Cara arrived on SmackDown via the WWE Draft, Chavo Guerrero has claimed that he has paved the way for Sin Cara to succeed in the WWE, a claim that Sin Cara has taken offense to and, at Over The Limit, Sin Cara will go one-on-one with Chavo Guerrero!

With the threat of Kharma looming, the Divas Title would be on the line at Over The Limit as, after defeating Brie Bella this past Monday on RAW, Kelly Kelly would face Brie Bella again, this time with the Divas Title up for grabs!

    Match Results

    • R-Truth def. Rey Mysterio by pin following the What’s Up.
    • Intercontinental Championship: Ezekiel Jackson def. Wade Barrett (c) by DQ after Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel interferes. Wade Barrett (c) retains.
    • Sin Cara def. Chavo Guerrero by pin following a tilt-a-whirl head scissors.
    • WWE Tag Team Championship: Kane & Big Show (c) def. CM Punk & Mason Ryan by Big Show (c) pinning Mason Ryan following a double chokeslam to retain.
    • Divas Championship: Brie Bella (c) (with Nikki Bella) def. Kelly Kelly by Nikki Bella pinning Kelly Kelly following the Bella Buster. Brie Bella (c) retains.
    • World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton (c) def. Christian by pin following the RKO to retain.
    • “Kiss My Foot” Match: Hall of Fame Induction & Jerry Lawler’s Hall of Fame Ring On The Line: Jerry “The King” Lawler def. Michael Cole by pin following the First Drop to force Michael Cole to kiss his foot.
    • WWE Championship: “I Quit” Match: John Cena (c) def. The Miz (with Alex Riley) to retain.

    Detailed Results

Before he would go one-on-one with Rey Mysterio in the opening match of the night, the unbalanced R-Truth would state that, when he arrived at the arena, he did not have a “parking spot”, so he had to “walk in the rain”! Truth would then claims that he is the victim of a “conspiracy” before saying that he does not “play games” because “games are for kids”! Truth then says that Rey Mysterio wears a “toy mask” before saying that he will take Rey’s “spot” and anyone else’s “spot” that he wants!

Then it was time for R-Truth to face the man he has attacked the last two weeks on RAW as Truth would go one-on-one with “The Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio in the opening match of the night! At the end of a hard-fought match, it was R-Truth withstanding the offense of Rey Mysterio and, after a vicious clothesline on the outside of the ring, Truth would hit the What’s Up on Rey en route to picking up the win! Will this new attitude of R-Truth continue to pay dividends for Truth?

After being ex-communicated from The Corre and assaulted by the group a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown, “The Personification of Domination” Ezekiel Jackson would get what he has been waiting for ever since his ousting from The Corre as Ezekiel would challenge Corre member Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Title! After dominating Wade Barrett with countless slams, Ezekiel Jackson would look to have the Intercontinental Title won as Ezekiel would put Barrett in the punishing torture rack, but Barrett’s Corre teammates Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel would rush out and attack Ezekiel! Ezekiel would manage to fight back against Slater & Gabriel, but Wade Barrett would catch Ezekiel with a side slam, which would allow The Corre to beat Ezekiel down yet again in a three-on-one assault that would end with Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel holding Ezekiel while Wade Barrett delivers a big boot to the face of Ezekiel! Despite having one less member, The Corre seems to be even stronger than ever, but is Ezekiel Jackson’s crusade against The Corre truly over?

Moments before they challenge Kane & Big Show for the WWE Tag Team Titles, CM Punk & Mason Ryan are discussing their strategy for the match on their way to The New Nexus locker room, but when they arrive in the locker room, they find their New Nexus teammates David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty laid out on the floor! Otunga & McGillicutty reveal to Mason Ryan that Kane & Big Show were the ones that attacked them, which enrages Ryan, but CM Punk tells Ryan that it is a “good thing” and now they can show Kane & Big Show that they have the advantage before Punk would tell Otunga & McGillicutty to “walk that off”!

After weeks of claiming that he is the “mentor” of Sin Cara and he has paved the way for Cara’s success, much to the chagrin of Sin Cara, the international sensation, Sin Cara, would go one-on-one with “The Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero! At the end of a fast-paced and high-flying match, it was Sin Cara hitting a tilt-a-whirl head scissors on Chavo Guerrero en route to picking up the win!

Then it was time for a special appearance as “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio would appear at Over The Limit as Alberto Del Rio would state that he is there to discuss “destiny” before stating that he has a problem with the “immigration problem” of “stinky Canadians” coming to Seattle! Del Rio would then state that he is not “upset” that he is not in the WWE Title match, because he can make either The Miz or WWE Champion John Cena say “I Quit” before proclaiming that it is just a “matter of time” before he is the WWE Champion, because “destiny cannot be stopped” because it is his “destiny” to be the “next WWE Champion”! Alberto Del Rio would then be interrupted by the arrival of the monstrous WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show as Kane tells Del Rio that he is already “angry” that the “Rapture” did not come yesterday because he was “looking forward to it” before threatening that Del Rio should leave the ring before they make his “destiny” to end up just like David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty before Big Show adds that it would be a “punch in the face” before the WWE Tag Team Champions would back Alberto Del Rio out of the ring!

After getting rid of Alberto Del Rio, the gargantuan WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against the leader of The New Nexus, CM Punk, and the powerhouse of The New Nexus, Mason Ryan! In the end, it was Kane & Big Show once again proving their dominance as the two big men would deliver a double chokeslam to Mason Ryan before Big Show pins Ryan to pick up the win to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles!

Then it was time for the Divas Title to be up for grabs as Brie Bella, with her twin sister Nikki in her corner, would defend the Divas Title against Kelly Kelly! In the end, it was The Bella Twins pulling off their Twin Magic as Nikki Bella would switch places with Brie Bella to take advantage and hit the Bella Buster on Kelly Kelly en route to retaining the Divas Title for her twin sister!

Then it was time for Christian to try and reclaim his dream of being the World Heavyweight Champion as Christian would challenge the man who shattered his dream, Randy Orton, for the World Heavyweight Title! At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Randy Orton fighting his way out of the Killswitch to hit the RKO out of nowhere on Christian en route to successfully retaining the World Heavyweight Title! After the match, Randy Orton would help Christian to his feet, but Christian would initially shove Orton away before coming back into the ring and shaking the hand of the World Heavyweight Champion before exiting the ring in despair! After failing to reclaim his dream of being the World Heavyweight Champion in his rematch for the gold, what is next for Christian?

After months of torment and humiliation at the hands of the self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler would finally get his one-on-one rematch against Michael Cole as Jerry Lawler would put his Hall of Fame ring on the line against Michael Cole in a “Kiss My Foot” Match where the loser must kiss the winner’s foot and, if Michael Cole wins, then Jerry Lawler will personally induct Michael Cole into the Hall of Fame! Jerry “The King” Lawler would come to the ring first, ready to compete, but Michael Cole would come out in his suit and limping before Cole would read a statement that says that he is “medically prohibited” from competing before asking for the “compassion” of Jerry Lawler and the fans! Cole continues that his doctor has informed him that his athlete’s foot has become “infected” and, if he were to put his foot in Lawler’s mouth, then Lawler would get “hoof-in-mouth disease”! Michael Cole would then hand his doctor’s note to the referee for him to read and the referee would look Cole in the eyes as he rips the doctor’s note into pieces before ringing the bell for the match to begin! After an initial onslaught by Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole would use the steel steps to pick up a momentary advantage over Lawler as Cole would expose his highly diseased athlete’s foot as Cole would wave it at the referee before taunting Jerry Lawler with the highly disgusting foot, but Lawler would grab the leg of Cole before pummeling Cole further and sending Cole crashing through his “Cole Mine”! Jerry Lawler would then roll Cole back into the ring where Lawler would hit the legendary fist drop from the second rope on Cole en route to picking up the win!

After the match, Jerry “The King” Lawler would start to unlace his boot, but would decide to bring out a guest instead as another victim of Michael Cole’s ridicule, Eve, would come out and would hit the Evesault on Michael Cole! Jerry Lawler would then remove his boot, but before sticking it in the mouth of Michael Cole, “The King” would have another guest as Lawler would bring out his Hall of Fame friend, “Good Ol’ J.R.” Jim Ross, who would dump his signature barbecue sauce all over the face of Michael Cole, but before Lawler could force Cole to kiss his foot, Cole would manage to escape the ring! On the ramp, Michael Cole would call Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross “losers” before vowing that he will “never” kiss the foot of Jerry Lawler, but a certain Hall of Famer would have a different idea as Over The Limit would be greeted by a shocking guest as the one and only Bret “The Hitman” Hart would make a surprise appearance as Bret would back Michael Cole all the way back to the ring before the Hall of Famer would throw Cole back into the ring! Bret Hart would then lock in the legendary Sharpshooter on Michael Cole as Jerry Lawler would stick his foot on the mouth of Michael Cole! After being utterly humiliated by Jerry “The King” Lawler, Eve, Jim Ross, & Bret “The Hitman” Hart, what will the always opinionated Michael Cole have to say about the worst night of his life and career at Over The Limit?

Then it was time for the main event of Over The Limit as the WWE Title would be on the line as “The Champ” John Cena would defend the WWE Title against the former champion, The Miz, with Alex Riley in his corner, in a match that John Cena has competed in three times as Cena would defend the gold in an “I Quit” Match, where the only way to win is to force your opponent to say the words, “I Quit”! As soon as the match begins, The Miz would take the microphone from the referee and reiterate that he can use anything against John Cena before revealing his master plan as Miz would state that it also means that he can use Alex Riley in the match as Riley would enter the ring to aid his mentor in what would become a glorified Handicap Match! While John Cena would fight back against The Miz and Alex Riley, the numbers game would catch up to the WWE Champion after Alex Riley would use his metal briefcase to wear Cena out with several shots to Cena! The ruthless tactics of Miz & Riley would continue to escalate as, with Cena continually refusing to say “I Quit”, Miz & Riley would send Cena into the exposed steel barricade, but when Cena still refused to quit, Miz and Riley would each take a monitor from the announce table as Miz would land a monitor shot in the mid-section of Cena before Riley would hit Cena in the head with the monitor! Cena would then get a couple of shots in on Alex Riley before The Miz would regain the advantage as Miz would send Cena into the steel ring steps before Miz plants Cena with a DDT on the steel steps! Miz would then take the microphone and tell Cena that, if he refuses to quit, Riley will use the steel steps on the ribs of Cena, but still Cena would still not quit, which would prompt Riley to drop the steps on the ribs of the WWE Champion!

John Cena would still refuse to quit, which would lead to The Miz getting a kendo stick and, as Alex Riley holds Cena by the arms, The Miz would repeatedly lash the WWE Champion with countless brutal shots to the ribs before The Miz would blast Cena with a kendo stick shot to the skull, but Cena would still refuse to quit! The torture by Miz & Riley would then continue on Cena as the duo would slam Cena on the steel ramp before Miz would deliver a suplex to Cena on the steel stage, but still Cena would not give up! The Miz would then measure John Cena up before delivering a boot to the skull of Cena that sends Cena off of the stage to the concrete floor, but Cena would still not quit! Alex Riley would then place John Cena over the boom camera and hold Cena in place as Cena would grab a leather belt and repeatedly lash the WWE Champion with repeated and sickening blows to the back, but after Cena still refuses to quit, Miz would become more enraged as Miz would lash Cena with countless additional shots with the leather belt, but Cena would still refuse to give up! The Miz would then try and bring The Miz back to ringside, but John Cena would, somehow, manage to fight back as Cena would send Alex Riley face-first into the steel ring post, but Miz would take advantage with a steel chair shot to the mid-section and a second shot to the back! Miz would then roll Cena back into the ring where Miz would look for another chair shot, but Cena would fight back again, taking Miz down before Riley would re-enter the ring, but Cena would try and toss Riley to the outside, but Riley would instead collide with the referee, taking the official out of the match!

The Miz & Alex Riley would then regain the advantage before Miz would set up a steel chair on the middle rope before delivering the Skull Crushing Finale on the steel chair! On the outside of the ring, The Miz would ask a young John Cena fan to tell Cena to quit, but the kid would refuse, prompting Miz to blast Cena in the skull with the microphone twice before Miz would pull Cena through the steel barricade, leaving Cena stuck in the barricade! The Miz would then grab a steel chair and, with Cena fully exposed to the shot, Miz would deliver a vile chair shot to the skull of Cena! Alex Riley would then grab the microphone with both hands and, even though Cena’s mouth did not appear to move, Cena’s voice would say “I Quit” into the microphone, seemingly meaning that The Miz won the WWE Title, but, when the referee went to retrieve the WWE Title belt for The Miz, the referee would spot a cell phone laying on the floor and would realize that Alex Riley used a recording of John Cena’s voice to make it seem like Cena said “I Quit” before the referee would order the match to be restarted!

After the referee ordered the “I Quit” Match to restart, The Miz & Alex Riley would look ready to deliver further torture to John Cena, but the WWE Champion would dodge a WWE Title belt shot by Alex Riley, who would mistakenly hit The Miz with the shot before Cena would fight back and would send Alex Riley crashing through the announce table with the Attitude Adjustment before Cena would remove his belt and whip The Miz repeatedly, even chasing and whipping Miz up the ramp as Miz tried to escape! Cena would then bring Miz to the steel stage where Cena would lock in the STF on The Miz, forcing The Miz to repeatedly say “I Quit” as John Cena would survive an unreal amount of torture to successfully retain the WWE Title!
