WWE Friday Night SmackDown March 11, 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | March 11, 2011
    WWE SmackDown

The 603rd edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. With his epic showdown against The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania in just over three weeks, SmackDown would feature a special appearance by the one and only Triple H as “The Game” would appear on SmackDown for the first time in almost a year! Four nights after having some strong words for The Rock on RAW and being laid out and mocked by his WrestleMania opponent, WWE Champion The Miz, the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Cena, would return to where his journey to superstardom began, on SmackDown! After defeating Alberto Del Rio’s former NXT Rookie, Brodus Clay, on RAW in his return to in-ring competition, Christian would be out for revenge as “Captain Charisma” would go one-on-one with the man who took him out of action back in September, the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio!

    Match Results

    • Kane def. Wade Barrett by DQ after The Corre interferes.
    • Kane & Big Show def. Wade Barrett & Heath Slater by DQ after Justin Gabriel & Ezekiel Jackson interfere.
    • Cody Rhodes (in his in-ring return) def. JTG by pin following the Cross Rhodes.
    • Layla (with Michelle McCool) def. Kaitlyn by pin following the Lay Out.
    • Rey Mysterio (in his in-ring return) def. Drew McIntyre by pin following the 619 and Splash.
    • Edge & Christian def. Alberto Del Rio & Brodus Clay by Edge pinning Brodus Clay following an elbow drop.

    Detailed Results

One week after being the victim of another attack by the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio, who looked to completely destroy the arm of the champion, but was saved from sheer disaster by his good friend, Christian, the show kicks off with the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge! Edge states that, in twenty-three days, he will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania before a fired up Edge asks if Del Rio know who he is and what he has “been through”! Edge then states that he is not looking for a “match”, he is looking for a “fight” and he is not giving Alberto Del Rio a choice as Del Rio will either come out there or he will go and find him! This prompts Alberto Del Rio to come out with his large protégé, Brodus Clay, in tow as Del Rio states that he is the man who sends Edge home in “pain” before saying that he is the man who will replace Edge’s “legacy” with his “destiny”! Del Rio and Brodus Clay then enter the ring as Del Rio vows that, at WrestleMania, he will be the new World Heavyweight Champion, which leads to Edge attacking Del Rio and Brodus Clay, but the two-on-one disadvantage would catch up to the World Heavyweight Champion as Clay would send Edge shoulder-first into the steel ring post before Christian would rush out and attack both Del Rio and Brodus Clay before the mastodon Clay takes Christian down! As Alberto Del Rio hammers away at Edge, Brodus Clay would deliver a square right hand to the chest of Christian before referees come out and manage to break up the fight before SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long comes out and makes the blockbuster announcement that, for the first time in ten years, one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history will reunite as World Heavyweight Champion Edge will team with the man he has held the tag team titles eight times with in Christian as Edge & Christian would take on Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay! What will happen when Edge and Christian reunite to battle Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay?

One week after his one-on-one match with Big Show as interrupted by The Corre giving him a steel chair, which he used on Big Show, as well as The Corre, “The Big Red Monster” Kane would go one-on-one with Corre member Wade Barrett, but before the match, Barrett tells Kane that he has made a couple of “monumental mistakes” recently as Kane did not “appreciate” what The Corre has done for him and the other was Kane putting his hands on Justin Gabriel before Barrett calls Kane “nothing but a great, big chemical experiment mistake”!

After calling Kane a “chemical mistake”, Corre member Wade Barrett would go one-on-one with “The Big Red Monster” Kane! Just a few minutes into the match, the rest of The Corre would enter the ring and Kane would fend off both Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, but would get taken down by Ezekiel Jackson before a steel chair wielding Big Show comes out and runs The Corre out of the ring!

After using a steel chair to help fend off an attack by The Corre on Kane, an impromptu tag match would take place as “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show would team with “The Big Red Monster” Kane to take on Corre members Wade Barrett and one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Heath Slater! During the match, the rest of The Corre would rush out and launch a four-on-one attack on Kane, but Big Show would grab a steel chair a gain and would waylay Ezekiel Jackson with a chair shot to the back before slugging the chair into the face of Wade Barrett! Big Show would then pay Kane back for last week by delivering a chair shot to the spine of Kane! How will The Corre respond to these two giants opposing them and each other?

Two weeks after a vicious assault on Rey Mysterio where he pummeled Mysterio before removing Rey’s mask, Cody Rhodes would return to action as the suit-wearing Rhodes would go one-on-one with JTG! In the end, it was Cody Rhodes using his protective mask in a headbutt on JTG before hitting the Cross Rhodes on JTG en route to picking up the win!

In the self-proclaimed “Interview of the Year”, commentator and self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole would host a special in-ring interview with the #1 Contender for the WWE Title at WrestleMania, John Cena, just four nights after Cena was assaulted, mocked, and laid out with the WWE Title belt by WWE Champion The Miz! As Michael Cole got ready to ask his first question, John Cena would take the microphone away from Cole and told him to leave! Cena states that The Miz should have stayed “under the radar” and he would have had a “chance” at winning at WrestleMania! Cena continues that he is done with “B.S.” and, if The Miz thinks that he is the “face of the WWE” like he says, then he will “break the face of the WWE”! Cena would then give the microphone back to Michael Cole and would get ready to leave the ring when Michael Cole stops him by stating that he is “not done” conducting his “interview” before accusing John Cena of being “scared” of “blowing” his opportunity to regain the WWE Title at WrestleMania! Cole continues that he is not asking Cena to “rap” or anything before telling Cena to “answer the question”, but says that maybe Cena can not answer because The Miz “shut” him up on RAW! When it looked like Cena was close to laying Michael Cole out, Cole’s “trainer” for WrestleMania would come out as Jack Swagger would attack Cena, but Cena would avoid the ankle lock of Swagger before hoisting Cole up for the Attitude Adjustment, but Swagger would re-enter the ring, allowing Cole to escape as Cena would deliver the Attitude Adjustment to Swagger!

With the apparently injured Michelle McCool in her corner, Layla would be in action on SmackDown against Houston’s own Kaitlyn! In the end, it was a distraction by Michelle McCool that would allow Layla to hit the Lay Out on Kaitlyn en route to picking up the win! After the match, Layla would hold Kaitlyn in the corner as Michelle McCool would deliver a knee to the back of the head of Kaitlyn!

Two weeks after being viciously assaulted and having his mask removed by Cody Rhodes, “The Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio would return to action as Mysterio would go one-on-one with “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre! In the end, it was Rey Mysterio hitting the 619 on Drew McIntyre and followed it up with a splash en route to picking up the win!

After the match, Cody Rhodes comes out and asks for Rey Mysterio’s answer to Rhodes’ WrestleMania challenge from last week and Mysterio responds by saying that he wears his “mask” with “pride” and he will do the same when he beats Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania! Rey Mysterio has accepted the WrestleMania challenge of Cody Rhodes, but who will emerge victorious on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”?

Four nights after The Undertaker appeared on RAW and revealed that the epic showdown at WrestleMania will be a No Holds Barred Match before vowing that Triple H would “rest in peace”, the one and only “The Game” Triple H would appear on SmackDown to respond! Triple H states that, in the last two years, he saw two of the greatest matches ever at WrestleMania when The Undertaker faced Shawn Michaels, but Michaels failed both times! Triple H states that Michaels emotions became his “Achilles heel”, but he has a “dark side” that allows him to do “unthinkable” things to “anyone” without “remorse” or “emotion”, but it is “true”! Triple H continues that, at WrestleMania, he will do what “no man” has ever done before as he “will beat” The Undertaker at WrestleMania because he will have “no emotion” as he will “not hesitate” and he will “not become unglued by things that go bump in the night”! Triple H then states that The Undertaker made their match No Holds Barred and Triple H responds by saying “thank you”! As the intensity and anticipation builds toward the epic No Holds Barred showdown between Triple H and The Undertaker at WrestleMania, can Triple H do what so many others have been unable to do by beating The Undertaker at WrestleMania?

Then it was time for the main event as, for the first time in ten years, World Heavyweight Champion Edge would team with “Captain Charisma” Christian to face the team of the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania, Alberto Del Rio, and his protégé, “The Rhino” Brodus Clay! At the end of a chaotic match, it was Christian hitting a tornado DDT on Brodus Clay and Edge would follow it up with an elbow drop on Clay en route to picking up the win for his team! With just twenty-three days to go until WrestleMania, what else will happen between champion and challenger en route to Edge defending the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio?
