WWE Friday Night SmackDown February 11, 2011 Results

    By Cassidy
    | February 11, 2011
    WWE SmackDown

The 599th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Resch Center in the home of the Super Bowl XLV champion Green Bay Packers, “Titletown, USA”, Green Bay, WI. One week after being forced to defend his World Heavyweight Title in a 3-on-2 Mixed Handicap Match by the acting General Manager of SmackDown, Vickie Guerrero, in an effort to crown her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler, as the new World Heavyweight Champion and, on SmackDown, the power-hungry acting GM would, once again, stack the deck against her ex-husband as Edge would be forced to defend the World Heavyweight Title against Dolph Ziggler with Dolph’s girlfriend, Vickie Guerrero, serving as the Special Referee!

    Match Results

    • Non-Title: Alberto Del Rio def. Kofi Kingston by submission to the cross armbreaker.
    • Justin Gabriel (with The Corre) def. Vladimir Kozlov (with Santino Marella) by pin following the 450 Splash.
    • Drew McIntyre def. Chris Masters by pin following the Future Shock DDT.
    • Wade Barrett (with Justin Gabriel) def. Rey Mysterio by pin following Wasteland.
    • Kane def. JTG by pin following the chokeslam.
    • Non-Title: Eve Torres def. Layla (with Michelle McCool) by counter pinfall.
    • World Heavyweight Championship: Special Referee- Vickie Guerrero: Spear Banned: Edge (c) (with Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews) def. Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero) by pin following the Spear to retain.

    Detailed Results

SmackDown kicks off with a Valentine’s Day atmosphere as the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble Match Alberto Del Rio kicks off the show with red and black decorations in the ring! Del Rio states that there a lot of things that he “love” in his like, like his car, his home country of Mexico, and the fact that the six participants competing for the World Heavyweight Title inside the Elimination Chamber will destroy each other with the winner facing him at WrestleMania! Del Rio then states that he “loves destiny” so “destiny loves” him before Del Rio addresses Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers as Del Rio states that he does not have to “pretend” to be a World Heavyweight Champion, because he will be the World Heavyweight Champion! Del Rio is then interrupted by Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston as Kofi states that no one can know their “future”, but he remembers the “past” of Del Rio assaulting him with a kendo stick last week and the “present” is just between him and Del Rio! Kofi then states that it is his “destiny” before Kofi gets a kendo stick from under the ring and threatens to waylay Del Rio with the kendo stick, but Del Rio begs his way out of the attack, or so it seems, as Kofi attacks Del Rio with the kendo stick with repeated shots to the arm of Del Rio before Del Rio manages to escape the ring as Kofi destroys the Valentine’s Day setup in the ring!

After interrupting Alberto Del Rio and ultimately assaulting Del Rio with a kendo stick in response to last week’s attack by Del Rio, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston would go one-on-one with the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble Match, “The Mexican Elitist” Alberto Del Rio in a non-title bout! In the end, it was Alberto Del Rio slamming the arm of Kofi Kingston on the steel steps before rolling Kofi back into the ring and locking in the cross armbreaker, forcing Kofi to tap out to pick up the win! With WrestleMania approaching fast, can Alberto Del Rio fulfill his “destiny” by winning the World Heavyweight Title?

One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions were in action on SmackDown as “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov, with fellow WWE Tag Team Champion Santino Marella in his corner, would face Corre member Justin Gabriel, with Corre members Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, & Ezekiel Jackson in his corner! During the match, Ezekiel Jackson would distract the referee, allowing Heath Slater to trip Vladimir Kozlov, but Santino Marella would take out Slater with the Cobra Strike before Justin Gabriel would take Santino out en route to hitting the 450 Splash on Vladimir Kozlov to pick up the win! After the match, Wade Barrett would deliver Wasteland to Santino Marella before Ezekiel Jackson would easily deliver the Book of Ezekiel on Vladimir Kozlov! Is there anyone who can stop The Corre’s takeover of SmackDown?

Nine nights before he is one of six competitors in the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE Elimination Chamber, “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre would go one-on-one with “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters, but as soon as the match begins, McIntyre would roll to the outside of the ring and grab a microphone as McIntyre states that he “blames” Edge for Kelly Kelly getting fired last week and that he will take it out on Edge before stating that he is doing this for Kelly Kelly! In the end, it was Drew McIntyre spiking Chris Masters with the Future Shock DDT en route to picking up the win! Can Drew McIntyre overcome five other Superstars inside the demonic Elimination Chamber Match to win the World Heavyweight Title in nine nights at WWE Elimination Chamber?

Before going one-on-one with Rey Mysterio, Corre member Wade Barrett states that, while he is competing for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE Elimination Chamber, that does not make him “better” than the other members of The Corre, but he will be headlining WrestleMania as the World Heavyweight Champion before stating that the next target of The Corre is Rey Mysterio!

On the historic 600th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, a massive 12-Man Tag Match will take place as World Heavyweight Champion Edge will team with the 2010 Superstar of the Year John Cena, “The Viper” Randy Orton, R-Truth, “The Prince of Parkour” John Morrison, & “The Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio will take on the team of the leader of The New Nexus CM Punk, “The Platinum Superstar” Dolph Ziggler, “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre, the 2010 King of the Ring King Sheamus, “The Big Red Monster” Kane, and Corre member Wade Barrett! What kind of chaos will take place on next week’s milestone 600th episode of SmackDown when these twelve Elimination Chamber competitors square off?

Nine nights before they are two of the six competitors in the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE Elimination Chamber, “The Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio would go one-on-one with Corre member Wade Barrett for the first time ever! In the end, Rey Mysterio looked to be closing in on a victory, but Corre member Justin Gabriel would come out and would distract Rey long enough for Wade Barrett to take advantage and ultimately hit Wasteland to pick up the win! After the match, The Corre would deliver a four-on-one beat down to Rey Mysterio, but Big Show would rush out and would toss Ezekiel Jackson from the ring before delivering the chokeslam to Wade Barrett, but as Big Show was set to deliver a double chokeslam to Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, Ezekiel Jackson would come in from behind and blast Big Show! The Corre would then beat down Big Show before Ezekiel Jackson would deliver a suplex to “The World’s Largest Athlete”! How will Big Show respond to yet another beat down by The Corre?

Nine nights before he is one of six competitors in the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Title, “The Big Red Monster” Kane would go one-on-one with “The Brooklyn Baller” JTG! In the end, it was Kane picking up a dominant victory over JTG, planting JTG with the chokeslam en route to picking up the win! Can Kane thrive inside the demonic Elimination Chamber to regain the World Heavyweight Title?

Three nights before she defends the Divas Title against former champion Natalya, Divas Champion Eve Torres would go one-on-one with Layla, with Michelle McCool in Layla’s corner, in a non-title match! In the end, it was Michelle McCool distracting Eve Torres long enough for Layla to knock Eve off of the top turnbuckle, but when Layla would go for the pin on Eve, Eve would counter into a pin of her own to pick up the win!

Then it was time of the main event as, by the order of acting SmackDown General Manager, and Dolph Ziggler’s girlfriend, Vickie Guerrero, Edge would defend the World Heavyweight Title against Dolph Ziggler once again, but this time, Vickie Guerrero would serve as the Special Referee with the added stipulation, made just prior to the match, that, once again, the Spear of Edge is banned from the match! During the match, as expected, Vickie Guerrero would give a quick count whenever Dolph Ziggler would go for a pin on Edge and, at one point in the match, Edge would go for the pin on Dolph, but Vickie would place Dolph’s foot on the bottom rope! At another point in the match, with Edge and Dolph Ziggler down, Vickie Guerrero would decide to mock her ex-husband, Edge, by going for her own version of the Spear, which would not impact Edge at all, but it would injure the ankle of Vickie! With Vickie being checked on by an EMT, Edge would deliver the banned Spear to Dolph Ziggler and, with Vickie watching from ringside, Edge would deliver the banned finisher a second time, but with no referee in the match, Edge would try to get a referee out to the ring, but a shocking referee would appear as the Green Bay Packers’ own Clay Matthews would emerge wearing a referee’s shirt and would count the three for Edge, allowing Edge to retain the World Heavyweight Title! After the match, Edge would celebrate with Clay Matthews as the two would celebrate with their own World Heavyweight Title belts as Vickie Guerrero would wave off the ruling of the match! How will Vickie Guerrero respond to the interference of Clay Matthews and Edge using the banned Spear? Is Edge still the World Heavyweight Champion?
