WWE Monday Night RAW December 27, 2010 Detailed Results

    By Cassidy
    | December 28, 2010
    WWE Raw

The 918th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW, and the final edition of 2010, came to you, live, from the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. In a year where RAW saw shocking new champions crowned, celebrities mix it up in the ring, and John Cena join, battle, and ultimately destroy The Nexus, RAW would be looking to end 2010 with a bang as “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with a familiar foe in the form of the 2010 King of the Ring Sheamus, as well as WWE Champion The Miz going one-on-one with the man who pinned him in 6-Man Tag action last week, Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, in a non-title bout!

    Match Results

    • Santino Marella def. Ted DiBiase by roll-up.
    • Choose The How & When Vs. #1 Contender’s Spot: John Morrison def. Alex Riley (with The Miz) by pin following a knee to the face to get to choose when he gets his shot at the WWE Title and in what type of match.
    • Mark Henry def. Tyson Kidd by pin following the World’s Strongest Slam.
    • Non-Title: Jerry “The King” Lawler (with John Morrison) def. The Miz (with Alex Riley) by Count-Out.
    • Melina & Alicia Fox def. Eve Torres & Gail Kim by Melina pinning Gail Kim with the Sunset Splits.
    • Non-Title: Daniel Bryan def. Zack Ryder by submission to the LeBell Lock.
    • Randy Orton def. Sheamus by pin following the RKO.

    Detailed Results

The final RAW of 2010 would kick off with a Superstar who has had a tumultuous 2010 as RAW kicks off with the 2010 Superstar of the Year John Cena! Cena states that he is a little “upset” about what happened last week when there was a “party”, but there was a “pooper” in the form of then RAW commentator CM Punk entering the ring and waylaying Cena with a steel chair! Cena then states that he brought it upon himself because he accidentally spilled Punk’s diet soda few weeks ago and, thus, he understands why Punk attacked Cena a second time on SmackDown in the same manner; with a steel chair as Cena was moments away from delivering the Attitude Adjustment to Vickie Guerrero! Cena then states that he can not replace the “famous diet soda”, but he can allow CM Punk to come out and “air his grievances”! This prompts CM Punk to come out and call Cena “thoughtless, heartless, and, above all else, dishonest” before stating that it goes “way beyond” a spilled diet soda before explaining that, after Survivor Series, John Cena was fired from the WWE and Cena gave a “tear-inducing speech” about going home and seeing his family, but he came back later that night and would continue to do so the following weeks before calling Cena’s word “absolutely worthless”! Punk then brings up Cena burying Wade Barrett in steel chairs at WWE TLC before asking why Cena thinks that it is “acceptable behavior”! Cena then interrupts and reminds CM Punk that Wade Barrett and The Nexus beat him down several times, made him their “personal slave”, and “ended” his career! Punk then calls Cena a “hypocrite” before accusing Cena of ending the career of a “good friend” of his in Batista back at WWE Over The Limit when Cena delivered the Attitude Adjustment through the steel stage, which “facilitated” the end of Batista’s WWE career! Punk then states that he is “surprised” that Vickie Guerrero has not quit based on the “abuse” from John Cena before saying that Cena gives “mental abuse” to everyone he encounters! Cena responds by reminding that Batista broke his neck, plus he showed up on RAW to “quit” on his own terms before saying that he “talks about” everyone and has done so for eight years before addressing commentator Michael Cole by saying that Cole has an “anonymous fetish” with Justin Bieber and he has The Miz’s name “manscaped” below his “belly button” before addressing himself by calling himself “the crazy sex child of The Incredible Hulk and Grimace”! CM Punk then states that Cena is “not funny” before stating that Cena will “change” and he will make sure of that before stating that someone is “standing up” to Cena’s “ruthless, barbaric ways” and that his “phony hustle, loyalty, and respect isn’t going to cut it anymore”! Punk then states that he knows the “real” John Cena and that it is all going to “stop”! Cena then states that, in the WWE, they have a way of settling their “issues” and that is in the ring, but Punk responds by calling Cena “predictable” before saying that they are going to fight on his “terms” before stating that, at some point on RAW, he is going to call Cena out! Punk then states that, if Cena thinks the two attacks with a steel chair last week were “surprising”, then he has a real “eye opener” planned before Punk states that the “real surprise” will come later on in the night! Punk then proclaims that RAW is all about “fun” before wishing Cena a “Happy New Year”! What does CM Punk have in store for John Cena? What is the “eye opener” that CM Punk speaks of?

Then it was time for the opening match of the night as one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella, with Tamina in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase, with Maryse in his corner! In the end, it was Santino Marella coming out of nowhere with a roll-up on Ted DiBiase to pick up the win! After the match, Santino Marella would present Tamina with a belated Christmas present of the Cobra! Ted DiBiase & Maryse would then attack the couple from behind, but Santino & Tamina would fight back and would hit a dual Cobra on DiBiase & Maryse!

Backstage, the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Morrison, walks in on a conversation between WWE Champion The Miz and his “apprentice” Alex Riley regarding how Alex Riley is going to dominate Morrison in their match and how Miz plans to “pick apart” Jerry Lawler! Morrison challenges The Miz to make his match with Riley “interesting” by adding the stipulation that, if John Morrison wins, then he gets to choose when he gets his WWE Title match and the stipulation for the match, but if Riley wins, then he will “forfeit” his #1 Contender’s spot! What will happen with John Morrison goes one-on-one with The Miz’s “apprentice” Alex Riley? Will John Morrison win and select the when and how of his WWE Title match or will Alex Riley win and force Morrison out of his #1 Contender’s spot?

Then it was time for the #1 Contender of the WWE Title, John Morrison, to go one-one-one with The Miz’s “apprentice” Alex Riley, with WWE Champion The Miz in his corner, with the stipulation that, if John Morrison wins, he will get to choose when he gets his shot at the WWE Title and the type of match it will be, but if Alex Riley wins, then John Morrison will forfeit his #1 Contender’s spot! During the match, John Morrison would go for the Flying Chuck kick off of the ropes, but The Miz would trip Morrison, which the referee spotted and, as a result, ordered The Miz away from ringside! With Alex Riley’s backup gone, John Morrison would blast Riley with a knee to the face en route to picking up the win to get to choose when he faces The Miz for the WWE Title and in what type of match! John Morrison would not waste any time in making his announcement as Morrison would tell commentator and The Miz’s opponent later in the night, Jerry “The King” Lawler that he is opting to get his shot at the WWE Title next week in a Falls Count Anywhere Match! Can John Morrison kick off 2011 on a very high note by defeating The Miz in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to win the WWE Title next week?

Moments after losing to John Morrison to allow Morrison to challenge The Miz for the WWE Title in a Falls Count Anywhere Match next week, Alex Riley is being read the riot act by his mentor, The Miz, as the WWE Champion asks Riley what he was “thinking” and Riley shouts back saying he was trying to do his “best”, but The Miz cuts him off and tells him that he is the WWE Champion and that Riley needs to focus on their plan for Jerry Lawler later on in the evening! Is the partnership between The Miz and Alex Riley falling apart?

Backstage, United States Champion Daniel Bryan is with The Bella Twins when Tyson Kidd, along with his new bodyguard Jackson Andrews, confronts Bryan and states that, in 2011, he will be the new United States Champion, “thanks in part” to his new bodyguard! Kidd then tells Bryan to watch what he does to Mark Henry and think about what he could do to Bryan!

After his strong words and predictions for United States Champion Daniel Bryan, “The Crowned Prince” Tyson Kidd, with bodyguard Jackson Andrews in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry! In the end, it was Mark Henry hitting the World’s Strongest Slam on Tyson Kidd en route to picking up the win! After the match, Tyson Kidd’s bodyguard, Jackson Andrews, would enter the ring and would come face-to-face with Mark Henry as the two super-heavyweights would come to blows with Mark Henry ducking a clothesline by Andrews and would hoist the big man up and deliver the World’s Strongest Slam to the bodyguard! How will Tyson Kidd & Jackson Andrews respond to being dominated by Mark Henry?

After being pinned by Jerry Lawler last week and one week before he defends his WWE Title against John Morrison in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, WWE Champion The Miz would go one-on-one with Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, but before that match, Miz proclaims that he does not get “intimidated”, he does the “intimidating” before saying that “nobody compares” to him in the WWE because legendary competitors like Verne Gagne and Harley Race do not “hold a candle” to him! Miz continues that he is a “technical wizard when it comes to wrestling” before demanding “absolute silence” from the fans while he’s talking before vowing to “destroy and humiliate” Jerry Lawler!

After vowing to “destroy and humiliate” Jerry Lawler, WWE Champion The Miz would go one-on-one with Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler in a non-title match! In the middle of an uncomfortable attempt at humiliation of Jerry Lawler by The Miz, the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Morrison, would come out, which would distract Miz long enough for Lawler to recover and begin to battle back against the WWE Champion! Shortly after this, The Miz would be sent to the outside by Jerry Lawler as Alex Riley would try to sneak into the ring, but the referee would spot the “apprentice” as Riley would distract the referee long enough for John Morrison to land a knee to the face on The Miz, which would lead to Miz getting counted out, allowing Jerry Lawler to defeat The Miz for the second week in a row! What will happen next week when John Morrison challenges The Miz for the WWE Title in a Falls Count Anywhere Match?

One week after becoming the new #1 Contender for the Divas Title and slapping the Divas Champion, Natalya, across the face, Melina would team with Alicia Fox to face Eve Torres & Gail Kim! In the end, it was Melina hitting the Sunset Split on Gail Kim to pick up the win! After the match, Divas Champion Natalya would enter the ring and would block an attempted cheap shot by Melina and deliver a slap of her own!

The United States Champion was in action on RAW as Daniel Bryan would go one-on-one with “The Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder in a non-title match! In the end, it was Daniel Bryan locking in the LeBell Lock and forcing Zack Ryder to tap out to pick up the win! After the match, the anonymous General Manager of RAW would chime in with an email that states that 2011 will be “the greatest year in the history of Monday Night RAW”, but the GM’s proclamation is interrupted after The Miz attacks Jerry Lawler, who had since returned to his seat at the announce desk as Miz pummels Jerry Lawler and throws Lawler into the ringside barricade, the announce table, and the steel ring steps before capping off the heinous attack with the Skull Crushing Finale on the arena floor! What is the status of Jerry “The King” Lawler following this vicious attack?

Then it was time for the renewal of a major rivalry in 2010 as “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with the 2010 King of the Ring, Sheamus! At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Randy Orton coming out of nowhere with the RKO on Sheamus en route to picking up the win! After ending 2010 with a win over Sheamus, what awaits Randy Orton in 2011?

After being promised an “eye opener” by CM Punk earlier in the night, John Cena would come out and would tell CM Punk that, if he “wants some, come get some” and CM Punk’s music would play, but CM Punk was nowhere to be found! John Cena then states that it looks like they are “playing games” before stating that he is “changing the game” and, if Punk is not going to come out, then he is going to “find” Punk, but when Cena starts to leave the ring, he is met with the arrival of The Nexus as David Otunga, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Husky Harris, & Michael McGillicutty march to ringside as David Otunga enters the ring and tells Cena that it is not what Cena thinks! Otunga continues that Cena assaulted him with a steel chair a couple of weeks ago and assaulted Wade Barrett at WWE TLC as Cena did what he said he was going to do! Otunga then states that The Nexus is under “new management” before offering Cena a “truce”! Cena responds by stating that he knows why The Nexus did what they did to him before saying that he went after The Nexus because Otunga is “nothing more than a slimy, manipulative worm of a man” and that he does not “trust” Otunga and that there will be “no moving forward” before telling Otunga to “move backward” or “throw hands and see what happens”! Otunga would then leave the ring and would look like he was leading The Nexus away from the ring, but The Nexus would rush back to the ring as the newly managed Nexus would systematically assault John Cena in standard Nexus fashion! The Nexus would then exit the ring as CM Punk would make his way to the ring as Punk would pick up the scraps of what The Nexus left by delivering the GTS to John Cena! Punk would then grab a steel chair and would get ready to hit Cena with the chair, but would opt to sit in the chair instead as, in a shocking turn of events, CM Punk would proceed to place The Nexus armband around his arm before raising his fist in the air as The Nexus does the same! It would appear as if CM Punk is the “new management” David Otunga was speaking of, but what does this mean for John Cena and the entire WWE? Can anyone stop The Nexus now that CM Punk is at the helm?
