WWE Monday Night RAW December 20, 2010 Detailed Results

    By Cassidy
    | December 21, 2010
    WWE Raw

One night after a controversial and unforgettable WWE TLC, the 917th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Frank Erwin Center at UT Austin in Austin, TX. One night after The Miz very narrowly retained the WWE Title in a Tables Match against Randy Orton and one night after John Cena fulfilled his promise to “destroy” Nexus leader Wade Barrett, the fallout of WWE TLC would be felt on RAW!

    Match Results

    • #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match for the Divas Title: Melina def. Eve Torres & Alicia Fox by rolling up Alicia Fox to become the new #1 Contender for the Divas Title.
    • Non-Title: Daniel Bryan def. William Regal by submission to the LeBell Lock.
    • Mixed Tag Match: Santino Marella & Tamina def. Ted DiBiase & Maryse by Tamina pinning Maryse following the Superfly Splash.
    • Non-Title: John Cena def. Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero) by pin following the Attitude Adjustment.
    • 6-Man Tag: Randy Orton, John Morrison, & Jerry “The King” Lawler def. The Miz, Alex Riley, & Sheamus by Jerry “The King” Lawler pinning The Miz following the RKO by Randy Orton.

    Detailed Results

One night after fully utilizing his “apprentice” Alex Riley to retain the WWE Title against Randy Orton in a Tables Match, the show kicks off with the still WWE Champion The Miz! Despite his questionable retention, Miz proclaims the fans should get used to hearing “still WWE Champion The Miz” before stating that the fans were expecting the announcement of “new WWE Champion Randy Orton”, but that it did not happen! Miz then states that he put Orton through a table before he is interrupted by ghoulish music as Alex Riley, dressed as “Christmas Past”, comes out and presents footage of Miz’s first title retention against Jerry Lawler a few weeks ago! The Miz then states that he does “not regret” anything he has done in the “past” before Miz is interrupted by Michael Cole, who is dressed as “Christmas Present”, tells Miz that he should be “ashamed” of his actions at WWE TLC, which Miz responds to by saying that all that “matters” is that he is still the WWE Champion before saying that he has something for Randy Orton before lifting the WWE Title above his head before he is interrupted by the “Miz Girl”, who calls herself the ghost of “Christmas Future”, which Miz responds to by saying that he is the “future” and is the most “must-see WWE Champion in WWE history”! The Miz is then interrupted legitimately by the new #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Morrison, as Morrison tells Miz that the whole setup he just did was really “stupid” before reminding Miz that he defeated Sheamus in a Ladder Match at WWE TLC to become the #1 Contender for the WWE Title before saying that he has defeated Miz in the “past”, he has defeated him in the “present”, and he knows that he can defeat him in the “future” to become the WWE Champion! Miz responds by saying that he has always been “better” than John Morrison before Alex Riley steps in and shoves Morrison, prompting Morrison to attack Alex Riley as Miz narrowly escapes! This would prompt Sheamus to come out and attack Morrison while, on the outside of the ring, Jerry Lawler gets a shot in on Alex Riley! All this action prompts the anonymous General Manager of RAW to chime in with an email that announces that the main event will see WWE Champion The Miz team up with his “apprentice” Alex Riley and Sheamus to take on the team of the new #1 Contender for the WWE Title John Morrison, Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Randy Orton! After this announcement was made, Orton would emerge from the back and blast The Miz with a clothesline! What will happen in a, sure to be, chaotic 6-Man Tag when The Miz, Alex Riley, & Sheamus take on John Morrison, Jerry Lawler, & Randy Orton?

The opening match of the night would see a new #1 Contender for the Divas Title determined as, with Divas Champion Natalya a guest on commentary, three former Divas Champions would face off as Melina, Eve Torres, & Alicia Fox would compete in a Triple Threat Match to determine the new #1 Contender! In the end, it was Melina rolling up Alicia Fox to pick up the win and become the new #1 Contender for the Divas Title! After the match, Divas Champion Natalya would enter the ring to congratulate Melina on her win and Melina would deliver a vicious slap to the face of the Divas Champion before leaving the ring with a scowl on her face! What has prompted Melina to slap Natalya across the face? How will Natalya respond?

The United States Champion was in action on RAW as United States Champion Daniel Bryan, with The Bella Twins in his corner, would go one-on-one with one of the Superstars who trained him earlier in his career in William Regal! In the end, it was Daniel Bryan forcing his former mentor, William Regal, to tap out as Bryan forces Regal to tap out to the LeBell Lock! After the match, both Bellas would enter the ring and deliver passionate and competitive kisses to a stunned Daniel Bryan!

After getting an overdone back massage by Tamina and Maryse, with Maryse standing on Santino’s back to argue with Tamina, one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Santino Marella, would team with Tamina to face “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase and Maryse in a Mixed Tag Match! In the end, it was Tamina doing her father proud by delivering the Superfly Splash to Maryse en route to picking up the win for herself and Santino Marella!

One night after delivering on his promise to “destroy” Nexus leader Wade Barrett, the 2010 Superstar of the Year John Cena would appear on RAW! Cena proclaims that the night is “monumental” because, for the first time in six months, RAW is “Nexus-free”, causing Cena to do a little dance and sing a little before showing the footage from WWE TLC where he dumped a ton of steel chairs on top of Wade Barrett from three different angles and in slow motion! Cena then proclaims that he got to “each and every member of The Nexus” and he did just that and now he can focus on “more important things” like winning the 2011 Royal Rumble before Cena is interrupted by the arrival by Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and his girlfriend, SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero as Vickie tells Cena that he is not the “only one” who won at WWE TLC and, after the crowd’s negative reaction directed at Vickie dies down, Vickie tells Cena that Dolph Ziggler is still the Intercontinental Champion before showing footage of Jerry Lawler’s belittling of Vickie Guerrero last week before Vickie demands an “apology” from Jerry Lawler, which Lawler responds to by trading “you’re so fat” jokes with John Cena and Cena takes up the jokes some more before Vickie slaps Cena across the face! This prompts the anonymous General Manager of RAW to chime in with an email that announces that Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler will go one-on-one with John Cena!

After he and Jerry Lawler insulted Vickie Guerrero, John Cena would go one-on-one with Vickie’s boyfriend, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, in a non-title match! At the end of a chaotic match that saw Vickie Guerrero interfere on two different occasions, John Cena would duck an attempted shot with the Intercontinental Title belt to hit the Attitude Adjustment on Dolph Ziggler en route to picking up the win! After the match, a shocking turn of events would take place as RAW commentator CM Punk would get out of his seat and enter the ring and deliver a pair of chair shots to John Cena! What is CM Punk’s explanation for attacking John Cena?

Moments after attacking John Cena, interviewer Josh Mathews catches up with CM Punk in the parking lot and asks Punk about his actions against Cena and Punk states that all that Cena understands is “aggression” and that Cena “brutalized” Wade Barrett at WWE TLC, so he was just giving Cena a “taste of his own medicine”! How will John Cena respond to CM Punk’s actions and his explanation?

Backstage, a displeased Vickie Guerrero is with her boyfriend, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, moments after Dolph’s loss to John Cena and Dolph demands a rematch with John Cena on tomorrow night’s special Tuesday edition of SmackDown and Vickie makes the match official, but not before making it a 2-on-1 Handicap Match where Cena would face her and Dolph Ziggler! What will happen on the special Tuesday night edition of SmackDown when John Cena must face both Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match?

Then it was time for the main event as WWE Champion The Miz would team with his “apprentice” Alex Riley and the 2010 King of the Ring Sheamus to take on the team of “The Viper” Randy Orton, Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, and the new #1 Contender for the WWE Title John Morrison in a 6-Man Tag Match! At the end of a chaotic match, it was The Miz setting up for the Skull Crushing Finale on Jerry Lawler when, with the referee distracted by Alex Riley, Randy Orton would come in and plant Miz with the RKO, allowing Jerry Lawler to pin the WWE Champion for the win! After the match, the anonymous General Manager of RAW then chimes in with an email that announces that, on tomorrow night’s SmackDown, WWE Champion The Miz will go one-on-one with Randy Orton! Following this announcement, The Miz would blast Jerry Lawler from behind before delivering a cheap shot to Randy Orton and high-tailing it out of the ring! What will happen tomorrow night when Randy Orton gets his hands on The Miz on SmackDown?
